Pineapple Cafe — Restaurant in Elizabeth City

Actually went in because the signage says “bakery” & I was hoping to pick up some fresh bread, but an assortment of cookies was their baked offerings. Decided to order to go lunch, which was adequate. I’m always happy to see vegetarian options so I don’t have to ask for modifications, however, the black bean burger is not worth a repeat order. The flavor was good, but it was extremely mushy (like it would make a good hummus wrap!). Received wrong dressing in the to-go order (my fault for not checking before I left). Great food but the cashier at 11:45 this morning as soon as I put a line through the tip changed her attitude completely. And here’s the thing if I’m dining in I’m gonna tip very well, but if I am just literally ordering food and going I personally don’t always tip unless the service I’m provided is above and beyond but her switch and attitude because she wasn’t getting a tip that doesn’t even fully go to her was insane. Food was good but the service was lacking. I ate my entire lunch without ever being checked on and never had my drink refilled. Meanwhile the entire staff could be seen at another table eating. I was surprised to learn that the manger on duty, Wendy was one of the girls sitting down eating. When I raised my complaint she insisted that it was my fault and I should’ve asked for a refill.
