Food Lion — Local services in Elizabeth City

Its an amazing day everytime I get the experience of shopping at food lion. I'd rather be shopping at food lion than going anywhere in the world. On a serious note though, food lion is ok. Its the same as every other grocery store. Overpriced, understocked and not a very pleasant experience. However, the customer service is pretty good. And the staff is helpful, usually, when asking questions. Particularly the older staff. The younger staff usually can't seem to work without ear us in, listening to music while they stock shelves etc. Which, is extremely frustrating when you approach them to ask questions because they basically ignore, or can't hear you. So, kudos to the people who actually put forth the effort in the store to address customers needs. The store is usually clean. And they don't haggle you about a mask to protect you from a virus (Covid) that isn't as bad as what the media makes it out to be. So, at least they get the big picture. So, the reason for 4 stars, is the staff that do care and the attention they give to the shoppers around the store. Couple that with not forcing the mask issue, and...

I Love this Food Lion!! Katina, one of the managers is so kind to me. She goes above and beyond to make sure I am taken care of . If I ever need help finding something, I can Always go to her. I recently made the mistake of leaving ice cream in my car, it was at night and very dark. I was able to explain what happened and Katina is so Kind and Understanding, She understood my mistake and was so incredibly kind to let me switch it out for a fresh one. I cannot say enough about how Kind and understanding She is. I have 100 % Loyalty to this Food Lion, because it is Peaple like Katina that make me want to shop there exclusively forever. She is a wonderful and a Very Kind Lady. I am Blessed to have Her as the Manager of this store. She Always has a smile on her face and is Excellent with customer service. I just left out of the store, Sara was my cashier who had a lot of words when I had to break a big bill for my groceries. I understand there is a shortage but I have to eat. She lectured me about why people want to bring in big money, making stuff you eat. A lot of people don't even use credit cards. When it's time for you to get your paycheck is there a shortage? I have never known her to be so unprofessional, but next time she need to not share with the rest of the customers in line. It was so unprofessional I prefer not to shop there anymore.
