Costa's B.B.Q & Grill Restaurant — Restaurant in Elizabeth

I'm conflicted. It took me to have a few bad experiences with Costas to write a review. Read the last three paragraphs to cut to the chase.

We do mostly a ribs order for take out and that is really good. Hands down, pretty good BBQ.

Both my bad experiences were from the sitting restaurant area. The staff is great. The ambiance is ok, nothing bad. I generally order a mixed grilled meat and most of the time it's nice cuts of short ribs and pork ribs along with other stuff. I didn't send my food back in my first bad experience, because to me, it was the first bad time and the food was going to be good the next time. I like the place. So I let it go. Recently, I had another boney, all fat and dried out short ribs and pork ribs. I request it to be replaced. They replaced it with succulent cuts with a smile. I was happy.

THEN I GOT THE BILL!! They changed the price specifically for me. They increased it by $10 dollars saying the price was effective that day. I looked at the menu and saw a hastily written number on top of $26 to look like $36. I've ordered this specific meal over the last year. I know the price. I looked at the other menus and guess what. They were all still listed as $26.

The "boss" would not meet with me, I bet he pressured his poor staff members to sell this lie. The 2nd bill was given to me with the corrected amount without a face-to-face.

You tell me, do I go back because food is tasty or do I not go back because they tried...

Absolutely love the food. I order every week and never get tired of it. But the service of some of the girls are kind of unpleasant. Like today I called and ask for the price of a different item a usually get, and when I told the lady I was going to call back so I can let my mom know the price (she was the ordering) she just hung up on me without even saying “you’re welcome” after I said thank you. Also sometimes when I go there, some of the ladies act like if they don’t want to be there and it’s the customers fault. Most of them are nice tho. And the last thing is that for the first time I ordered during a weekend, and I was charged a different price than the one online. The reason being is because it was a weekend, but I think they should have that in the website do when people order, they’re aware of it. Because going from $22 to $29, is a lot...

Placed an order 4/25/20

I walked in this location to pick up my order paid and was the only person waiting for my order to be ready. The woman working at the register asked me to wait outside and I did so with no issue.

After waiting 10 more minutes I walked back after realizing three more people (non black) walked in and were allowed to wait inside. This same woman yelled at me to go back outside. I told her I was picking up my food and would accept a refund if there was an issue. The young man at the register said here is your food and her only reply was ohh.

I have been going to this location for years and will never return.
