The Brown Derby Cafe & Rental Hall — Restaurant in Elizabeth

So I was recommended by my work mom. I was craving baked mac and cheese and I knew she would know a place. I called and was greeted by a lovely and familiar voice( like I was speaking to my own aunty). She was clear and concise with all the answers when I asked inquisitive questions about the selection of food. I asked if she could actually wait before she started my order, because I was at the dog park and she obliged. The food was hot and fresh when it was picked up. I started eating it immediately 😅 😋 and it was so satisfying. I haven't had an authentic tasting southern cuisine in a very long time. I was highly satisfied. I only had two cons: I asked for collard greens and she gave me a mix of something, because she had ran out of collard greens. I was a little annoyed by that and I didn't even bother tasting it. I would have rathered her just 86 Collard Greens all the way, than coming to that decision for me. The shrimp was very salty. Babyyyy let me tell you!!! Shout out to my new cousins Sug and Amutellier (girl forgive me for misspelling the name) lol who are family co-owners of this restaurant! My mother came across this establishment, read the previous reviews and began craving some good old soul food! We ordered oxtails with mac & cheese, candy yams, cornbread, potato salad, jerk chicken wings, fried chicken wings, and yellow rice. My parents and I were very pleased with the orders prepared by the loving hands of my new cousin Sug! The dinner was flavorful, fulfilling, reasonably priced, and made upon order! The ambience was chill with old school R&B playing in the back ground. The establishment was clean and lit dimly! The owners of this establishment were super hospitable, friendly, and exuding positive vibes! We will definitely return for other dishes to explode on our palates! See you soon...
