Let me start off by saying, I come to Don Felix A LOT. It’s one of my favorite spots and has been for YEARS. BUT the service is horrible.
I bought tickets to see Rakim last night. I get there I tell the server I have a reservation, I give her the name of the reservation, she shrugs her shoulders proceeds to take half of my group to a table in the back. No problem. We’re told we have to buy a bottle. Bought a bottle and took forever to order some food. No problem. She didn’t come back to check on us. No problem. The rest of my group arrives and they’re at our section. I’m told I have to close out at the table to move. No problem. Server isn’t the most polite and doesn’t help us move our things to the proper section where we were supposed to be. Here we are, my friends and I hike it all over Don Felix. We get to our actual section with still a full bottle but we need more cups I ask one of the many servers and they look at each other like they’re annoyed with me and tell me that I need to wait because they need to find out where the bottle came from. I explained to her the mishap which was on their end, doesn’t care. While we’re there the server tells me that we need to buy another bottle while still having a full one in front of us. I explained to her that we were sat in the wrong place and told them from the start what the name of the section was. She starts telling me that we can’t sit there because these are the rules and you need to follow them. I just spent over 400$ AT LEAST and still tipped ON TOP just to see Rakim and I was forced to leave before he even came out.
I’ve worked in the industry since 2017. I know what it is to provide excellent service, whether I’m serving, hosting or bartending and this wasn’t it. The service was horrible, these girls aren’t the nicest. Very nasty and demanding, no customer service whatsoever and they act like it hurts to do their job. Like they’re being forced to provide service. You don’t like your job, move on to something else. I’m very disappointed because like I love coming here regularly but this was such a bad experience. I hope it never...
Read moreYesterday, myself and coworkers were having a farewell- goodbye gathering from 6-11 pm. One of my staff members parted ways and we wanted to all reunite one last time at Don Felix. Before I mention my distress, let me add that I have been coming to Don Felix for over 7 years, I have never had any problems with the service nor staff; I have been in Elizabeth majority of my life and my family also has many business within the area, so for me, visiting Don Felix was somewhat of a second home, however, towards the end of the evening, my partner came to join the festivities to only get shut down at the door and denied entry due to wearing a NBA jersey. I was appalled for the simple fact, that we had already established a great relationship with all the staff and servers, however, to be treated so poorly, and to deny a customer access due to a NBA shirt was quite embarrassing. I spoke with a female who claims she was in charge who basically told me to kick rocks. I realized that regardless of the amount of money and business we brought to Don Felix on a Monday night, they clearly did not seem to care.. So unfortunately I took myself, my staff to The Garden on Morris Ave and I honestly, it was delightful. The Garden staff, and (owner) Julian had no issue handling us regardless of our attire. Moving forward, I will no longer visit Don Felix and I will make sure I make it known to all my customers and clients...
Read moreTo whom may concern, I enjoyed and loved the place and food until it came to billing… this restaurant overcharged me $139.60… I have reach out plenty of times since opening 11:30am/night of and it’s been very difficult to retrieve an answer/an explanation on how this situation is getting handled… I would normally never say this but it feels very much like theft from the restaurant and the server Ana with the short conversations and waiting forever for the responses plus rude talk… the service is definitely questionable and the manager who has responded been saying “$140 is not a lot and it takes several days to sort things like this out” being very irresponsible and sounding upset I followed up… I work at a restaurant and seen situations like this and normally it is handled in a day professionally especially when it’s a high amount as such and in general handled moment of… it’s just been a absolute headache to receive the overcharged amount and hope to get this settled soon. Thus, the managers definitely need to be more responsible and servers need to stop trying to pocket amounts including stop choosing the highest tip to give to themselves it is a robbery and outrageously...
