This place used to be great, but it has gone downhill. I used to go regularly, since 2015 (my husband has been going for much longer than that), and every time I went I would buy get $80-100 hundred dollars worth of coffee as well as gifts when we traveled overseas. I'm rarely in a hurry when I go, but one day I was (only because my phone was broken and I had to meet someone). And even though I tried very hard to be extra polite about it, explaining that I didn't have my phone and that I couldn't be late to that meeting, the lady I spoke with at Coffee Company got snippy with me.
Most recently, we called about them getting a specialty coffee. We were told that they would have it, and we explained that we were going out of town and we're going to give this coffee as a gift to someone special (an aunt with health issues). After they received the coffee (and after they called us to let us know it was in), they SOLD THE COFFEE TO ANOTHER CUSTOMER, someone who's supposedly a "regular" (as if were not). I am really upset and would have given them one star if not for Will, who still works for them and was always very helpful and customer-service-oriented when I used to...
Read moreI love this place so I hate to write a bad review, but they struck out with me due to very poor service over 5 separate consecutive visits. This location is right off the Tweetsie Bike and Pedestrian Trail, so a lot of bike traffic comes into the town from Johnson City just 9 miles up the trail. They seem to regret their adjacent status to the trail, as they present very xenophobically against bikers. I dress like a street biker, so I don't look like a spandex MD weekend warrior on a $20k+ e-bike. But I'm very polite, I tip well, and I am very little trouble, so I don't understand why I'm not worth the time it takes to simple treat me like a customer you want to have. I guess they don't. I hate this, because they are in my opinion one of the better places Elizabethton has to offer, and one of the reasons I would take the Tweetsie, instead of just biking into Johnson City, and stoping at one of the hundreds of restaurants and pubs in this rapidly growing...
Read moreI wouldn't recommend The Coffee Company during a rush/busy time. The food was underwhelming, the service was not great. We were seated first, moved to a smaller table (which we actually asked for), then 2 more tables were sat. Our order was not taken first, instead it was the larger table of 5 that was 1st. Not really a big deal, but I am leaving an honest review. The German potato salad was described as salty, oily, & very tangy. It was definitely oily, but lacked salt & tang. So much so, that I took the lemon from my water & juiced it onto the potato salad. My son ordered a chicken tender salad & I had the pesto turkey sandwich. No issues there. My daughter ordered the toasted cheese with no tomato. When it arrived, her sandwich was barely lukewarm & the cheese hardly melted. I did let the waitress know (who switched mid shift to a new person?) & she thanked me for the honesty. Will I come back? Not for the food. The coffee has never let me...
