City Market — Restaurant in Elizabethton

My husband was told about this little restaurant and how good the food is, so we decided to try it for ourselves. I was very surprised at all the people eating there. My father is in a wheelchair and we were accommodated. Menu had a lot of choices. I asked about their chicken salad and the kind waitress, (Stephanie) brought out a small bowl of chicken salad, it was delicious and my father doesn’t like any type of chicken and he loved it. My dad ordered the fresh fruit and chicken salad meal, I ordered the chicken salad on a croissant with sweet tea, my husband ordered a hamburger and a chili dog. The fruit was very fresh, ( and it is seasonal), chicken salad was delicious and my picky husband said that his hamburger and hotdog was made exactly how he likes it. Had to give only 2 this time. Our first experience was OUTSTANDING. We recently stopped in for lunch and wow what a let down. The food was still great BUT prices on the menu did not reflect the true price. Server asked us if we wanted THE FRIES AND SLAW THAT CAME WITH THE MEAL. Operative words came with yet when we got our check we were charged for them. They charge for styrofoam cups for water (we can afford the 10 cents not the point) with a sign on the door saying no outside food or beverage. I’d rather use my reusable water jug but little inconvenience. Our objection was with the differing prices. We ate there this week. Food was good but everyone received their food at a different time. We came to eat together 🤷🏼‍♀️ Our waitress was too busy chatting to get us refills so I had to carry our cups up to get a refill. Atmosphere is loud & not enjoyable but they can’t help that during a busy time. I typically tip very good but due to poor service I didn’t.
