SUMMARY: Sim Sushi is a good choice for a quick sushi night when they are available. However, they frequently close and fail to answer the phone. Don't count on them to be open during their posted hours.
The quality of the fish is decent. Larger and coastal cities have much better quality fish in our experience. Given that we're in Elizabethtown, KY, the quality of fish was better than expected.
The servings are larger than expected. The sashimi appetizer offered 9 large pieces. Rolls are standard-sized.
Their menu is a bit limited, and their offerings are generally over-sauced without being off-putting. Surprisingly, they offer spicy tuna but no other fish has a spicy variant.
The service was a little slow, but the waitress was apologetic and told us that they were short-staffed.
UPDATE: There have been several occasions of the restaurant closing or not answering their phone during posted business hours. Make sure you call before going to avoid wasting a trip. You will likely have to call numerous times, as they generally don't...
Read morethis place used to be my favorite japanese restaurant in etown, but not anymore. it doesn’t matter how hard you try, it is ridiculously hard to catch them open. their online hours do not reflect their actual hours, because it seems like every single day they decide to close early just because they can. they unplug their phone so you can’t place a take out order and don’t have a website still. had been trying to call since 6:30 and by 7 we gave up and tried to drive up there. they’re supposed to be open til 8 but the doors were locked, with people eating inside, and the employees just stood there and stared at us through the door like we did something wrong. we just wanted to place a take out order but this is probably the 10th time we’ve tried to eat there this year and haven’t been able to. i’m done trying and they won’t be getting our business, doesn’t seem like they care too much anyways. wasabi in elizabethtown is delicious and their customer service is amazing. i would suggest...
Read moreDon't Bother. They really don't want your business. We went for lunch yesterday. We stood inside the door waiting to be acknowledged, seated, etc. There were 4 or 5 tables, 1 waiter visible, taking an order, socializing with the table, taking his time. 2 singles came in after us and went and sat down, so we decided to take a seat too, right behind the active table. The singles both got greeted by another waitress. The waiter finished taking his table's order, and walked away. He came back with their drinks and walked away again. A woman came out from the kitchen, cleared the table next to us, and never even looked at us. The waiter came back with the appetizers for his table, and literally turned his back to us while he placed their dishes on the table sideways. That was over 10 minutes into our visit, and a strong signal that he was not ever going to acknowledge us. So, we walked out and went somewhere else. We will...
