Honestly just had the most disappointing and underwhelming experience. It has potential to be good - I appreciate the gluten free options and variety. But they’ve clearly made a choice to understaff. There wasn’t anyone clearing tables or helping servers so the poor servers had to bus the tables. Huge line out the door the whole time we were there, while tables sat empty waiting to be cleared. We called in advance and asked about the wait - they said no wait for inside. We showed up minutes later and waited for 15 minutes at an empty hostess stand with fifteen other people just to put our name in for a table. Then waited another 30 minutes for a table. Then they tried to seat our six-person group at a small four-person table. I asked for a bigger table and they gave it, but both of our toddlers still had to sit on our laps…. Where they remained for the entire HOUR we then waited for our food. We watched every table around us be sat and served before us. We didn’t order anything crazy or off the menu - literally just eggs from the breakfast menu. It was honestly crazy. Finally after an hour I asked a server if our food was coming and said we were just going to leave. She wandered off for a while and eventually came back and said oh it’s coming out soon. She also said it was busy for Father’s Day. Uh, okay, but I’m not sure that justifies us sitting there for two hours plus, total by the end. Our server also completely forgot to put in the hot chocolate we ordered for my toddler. By the time our food came my two year old was crying and asking for eggs because she saw everyone around us eating their eggs before her.
There were no coloring supplies or anything to keep kids busy. No one offered us a high chair or booster.
It was honestly just the most outrageously poor experience I’ve ever had.
Seems like the place has potential and is probably good when they’re slow, but they can’t handle any volume.
Understaffing and not taking reservations is a choice that comes at the expense of the customers.
The acoustics in there are bad and you can barely hear each other speak inside when it’s busy.
We went to the bathroom and there are only two, there was a long line for them, and they were dirty with tp strewn all over the floor.
So, so...
Read moreI was at Whisk Cafe today. The wait staff was professional and the service was good. However, the coffee is served warm, not hot. I brought this to the waitress attention and she refilled my cup, but again it wasn't hot. Therefore, before I had even drank half a cup, it was lukewarm, so I didn't finish it.
The real problem was the food. I ordered the RBK. The menu describes this dish as "three eggs scrambled with shredded cheddar, home fries, bacon, mushrooms, spinach, onions, and peppers with a biscuit or toast". I started to eat it and took a couple of bites and found myself thinking, "weren't there supposed to be scrambled eggs in this"? I looked up the menu online and sure enough it said three eggs scrambled. There were NO eggs in the dish I was served. I brought this to the waitress's attention and she went to check with kitchen. She came back and tried to tell me that the three eggs were in there, you just couldn't see them. I emphasized that it was obvious that no eggs were in the dish I was given. I mean it was plainly visible that all the ingredients were there, except the eggs. She also said that the kitchen was scrambling some eggs for me, which she delivered soon after. I make something similar at home with home fries, peppers onions and usually two scrambled eggs, and the eggs are always visible in the mix. I dont know, maybe it was just an honest mistake and the cook forgot to add the eggs to the frying pan, but it is pretty incredible that they would try to tell me that three eggs were so well mixed in that you just couldn't see them.attached are photos of the original dish, and the plate of eggs that was delivered separately. I didnt think to add the eggs to the potatoes, etc. So that you could see what everything mixed together should have looked like. I challenge anyone to find any sign of scrambled eggs in the photo of the original dish that...
Read moreI'm amending my original review. Since the first visit debacle where my wife and I spent nearly 3 hours between waiting for a table and paying the bill, we've been back a couple times and order carry out frequently. Turn around time for carry out is down to 20 minutes and the food is still extremely tasty. Seems that they've hired more people and are now a pretty well oiled machine. Kudos to Whisk for turning my frown upside down!
OLD REVIEW: I ate here on Sunday. While I applaud the owner for being honest about the 40 minute wait time just to get a seat (there were several tables unoccupied, the place wasn't actually full), the fact that she reiterated there were several groups ahead of us was just irritating. My wife and I grabbed a coffee and sat at the counter because it was Sunday and we weren't in a hurry. 30 minutes later, after several groups that came in after us had been seated, I walked over and reminded the owner that we were still waiting to be seated. We got a seat immediately because, again, the place wasn't actually full. An hour later we actually got food, except the hash brown casserole I had ordered... they either forgot, or simply couldn't align that particular item with the rest of my order. Either way, I had to wait an additional 10 minutes to receive my full order. The food was very good, the service so-so, the wait time excruciating, and the overall experience, except for the fact that I enjoyed spending time with my wife, was awful. If you have 3 hours to kill go ahead and enjoy, if you want to do more with your day than wait, go to McDonalds. At least it's fast and you know what...
