So I'm not sure what is going on with this place. I notice it going downhill even more by every year that goes by. 2 weeks before Christmas, and you can't even get the donuts they advertise for that holiday. They open at 6 am. Just after 7, they still don't have donuts made. AND they don't care about the customer ls that come there! I asked for 2 grinch boxes, and I was told because I called earlier, I only had 1 set aside. I had to pull up to the window and wait a while because the donuts were just made and being frosted. I said if the donuts just came out and are being frosted, why can't I have 2 boxes? Do you know what they said? They said because those were already going elsewhere. I said, "So can I order 1 now for later since your online has been down for days?" I was told no. I said, "So how are those donuts going elsewhere if you can't pre-order them?" She said they are the oder for Costco, Wal-Mart, etc. WOW so the stores are more important than the customers they have that order. So, being they are short-handed, they pretty much have nothing to sell but plain iced. I was going to go the night before to get a mix for my grandma. I found out that at 9, they threw everything away they made for the day. Now I find this extremely stupid when they close at 10! Donut are made throughout the day, but they only make them into plain iced. Why do they do this? idk. But NOWHERE on the doors of the building or online does it tell you if you get there after 9, NO other donuts will be available. So they do this daily but don't inform people, and i was told well thats just our rules we follow. Ok, fine, but INFORM customer s!I find this to be absolutely wrong! So, lesson learned. By 8 a.m., they still didn't have much to sell. They didn't have strawberry frosted, no lemon filled, no custard filled. They also only had 2 of the grinch ones available. So I waited for the strawberry frosted and the 2 other grich ones. Never got any green iced like they advertised. Didn't know that was so hard. Oh, and they DIDN'T even have any donut holes except for plain iced. No chocolate, no nothing! I think I'm going to stop going there when I come out that way. Casey's has pretty decent donuts for cheaper, and I can order them. I don't care if they re frozen. Krispy used to be better than dunkin' Donuts, and now, they are going right downhill with them. The only good thing is when I was talking to the manager about the fiasco the night before and at 6 am with the other person, he honored my free dozen that I was going to get the night before but didn't have any other donuts but plain iced. That's the only reason this...
Read moreOne of my clients requested to go here on a weekend, which is why I came. Luckily I'm a lover of donuts, so I was not going to say no! We drove to Elk Grove Village from Morton Grove. If it were not for the huge Krispy Kreme logo, I would not have known that this place was there. It looked like some storage building with the Krispy Kreme logo attached to it, plus the parking lot was completely empty.
While entering the parking lot, the drive thru seemed so far away. I thought that I was going somewhere else other than Krispy Kreme with the edition of there being a loading dock where it loops around to order. Due to this being a drive thru visit this review I will be brief, but I cannot get over the placement of this Krispy Kreme location.
Prior to my client ordering, I scanned the entire menu and was instantly drawn to their Reese's outrageous single donut. It is something different that you will not find at any other donut place. To give you all an idea of what it tastes like, I compare it to an old fashion chocolate glaze donut with reeses on it. Sounds good, huh? And while visiting on a later date, I ordered the pumpkin spice doughnut, which tastes exactly how it sounds.
I always dread the drive from Morton Grove when my client requests to go, but I'm always happy once find and order something that I have never tried before. But, seriously Krispy Kreme! I'm going to need you to expand your locations around Chicago & Chicagoland,...
Read moreWent here for the St. Patrick’s day free donut but the staff didn’t appear to know of it. We also ordered lattes but they came out tasting burnt and not with the flavors we ordered. 2.5 Stars and here’s why:
+1 Speed of service and how spacious the place was. The building is rather large and doesn’t feel cramped at all when you’re eating. The donuts and drinks were out in under 10 minutes, but there weren’t customers inside just in the drive thru.
+1 The place was cleaner than expected
+.5 We were greeted in a friendly manner
-.5 The lack of awareness of the special going on. This is a participating location per Krispy Kreme’s website so it’s odd no one knew. There weren’t promotional signs either in the building.
-1 my wife and I ordered one iced caramel mocha latte an one iced vanilla latte and both tasted like the espresso was burnt. We’ve worked as baristas for years and are avid coffee/espresso drinkers and what we received was not expected. There also seemed to be no flavoring in either drink.
-1 A lot of the donuts were mislabeled. We came in around 3pm on a Friday so I would say there would be time in the day to have things organized prior to customers visiting.
Overall if you’re in the area and need donuts, it’s a fine place to drive thru but maybe stick to the coffee and avoid the lattes. Also, be wary of the specials and ensure you have their website or promotion pulled up...
