Golden Corral Buffet & Grill — Restaurant in Elkton

I started visiting this location a few years ago. I am a trucker that lives in upstate NY. I usually park at the TA truck stop down the road. The TA has little to no food to offer and has gone downhill over the last several years.

The Flying J featuring Golden Corral is one of the few places in the area that truckers can get a hot meal.

Would like to shout out to Chastity. This young lady has been my server almost exclusively since I began patronizing Golden Corral in Elkton.

Typically you will see the other staff in the far dining room area playing on their phones or in small groups chatting. Not Chastity. Chastity does not stop working. Doesn’t stop moving.

As you watch the staff you will easily identify which one she is. She is the one wiping tables, changing the pans for our food, helping guests that are not hers.

It is impressive to see such a young person work so hard when staff older than her are barely working.

I always tip this young lady very well. By very well I tip her an average of $20 on a $15ish check.

I pay the check which pays for the food. My tip pays for the service. The service is amazing. She sells herself short working there in my opinion but it’s to the customer benefit she chooses to be a server there.

A filthy disgusting place. Ate there in 2018 and was sick for 3 days. They never acknowledged it nor even offered a refund. Brought a lawsuit but lacked sufficient evidence to prevail however that was the only thing i ate that day. I did go to my physician and was diagnosed with food poisoning. Apparently this was not good enough for the court in Elkton. I do not blame the judge though because I think the burden of proof was too high. However this restaurant has exposed food which is not readily changed and when I went there the carpets were distinctly foul smelling. This kind of thing could happen to any restaurant that doesn't care for food being exposed to various maladies and diseases that are extant in our environment and in other people. There are no doubts other people who go there with no ill results and it will claim that the food is fine. I would warn the reader not to go by anecdotal evidence of people who managed to not get ill. If only one person gets food poisoning that is really too many and I do not think I was the only person. I may have been the only person to sue them though. If you still insist on eating there you will probably be fine but your chances of getting foodborne illnesses are much greater at this place than in almost any other restaurant in the vicinity. My family and I have been to this location a few times since living in the general area. There were a couple of times that we were not very thrilled with the food or overall experience. However, today really changed our minds. Our server was extremely tentative and polite. Our drinks stayed full, and empty plates were promptly removed from our booths table. Historically, it seems we've only visited when the steaks were not being served, but today they were, and they were very well prepared. Typically, we find Golden Corral steaks to be 50/50 on taste and quality of preparation, but these were on point. The buffet was full, and the food was hot and fresh each time we went for a new plate. My hope is that this location would continue this good service and quality, which would make for a consistent and good experience for all guests. If I had to give any constructive criticism this trip, I would say that having had a packed house, it seemed the general egress to the buffet and back to the table was very tight and difficult to traverse due to the quantity of people coming and going.
