The place was busy but our waitress saw us take a table and another couple came in sat at a table in her section. Then a group of 5 came on and sat next to us. She waited on the couple got their coffee and took their order. I said they came in after us and not right behind us we've been waiting for 5 minutes before they came in. Another waitress brought us menus and wanted to know if we wanted coffee. I said no we want something else. She walked off. I wasn't impressed that she didnt take our drink order. I didnt know at that time that she wasn't our waitress. We waited the couple got their food! The waitress gave the other table of 5 their menus and took their drink orders. Once she filled them she graced us with her presence took our drink orders and I stated that we knew what we wanted so she took our order. The banana pancakes where only pancake mix with bananas sliced in them. Not what I expected as most places mash the bananas and add cinnamon to the mix they were bland. When she brought our food the first couple that came in after us got up and left. If she hadn't told us we could take any open table when we were waiting for them to clear off the tables u could say she didnt see us sit but that wasn't the case. The other waitress tried helping but it would have been nice if she had let us know she wasn't our waitress. My granddaughter says wow Grammy she was rude to you, I said yes hun but we all have bad days maybe her day has been terrible. Service was slow, food mediocre It will be awhile...

Worst breakfast food ever. Waited 30 mins to get a table! Ordered eggs, bacon, potaoes, and pancakes as the waitress brought my included coffee. Lost track of how long l waited for it, but eventually another waitress brought it. Meanwhile we were waiting for our waitress to return so l could order a glass of water. She passed right by my table several times. I finally flagged her down to get a refill of coffee, but she hurried off before l could get a replacement order for the burnt bacon. I finally flagged down the seating hostess, showed her my 3 burnt black pieces of bacon and asked for a replacement, she brought 2 slices of bacon not as close to burnt as what was on my plate. My potatoes were semi raw. The pancakes were at least an inch thick and crumbled into shreds trying to get a bite on the fork. They were so dry the syrup didn't even help! I was amused watching other customers trying to eat their pancakes. The eggs were cooked to order. I had to flag the waitress down to get the check. She asked if l wanted a to go box??? After eating my 2 fried eggs and 2 pieces bacon and paying way too much, l will not go...

While traveling through the area, we decided to grab some breakfast and then popped into Sylvia’s Cafe without knowing what to expect. It was a Saturday, and the place was packed, but the wait was worth it! We put our name on the waiting list, and it was about a 20 min wait.

Although the restaurant is located in a shopping strip, once you walk inside, you feel transported. From the beautiful mural in the back of the restaurant to the many Maine-themed posters, it all made us feel so cozy.

Service was top-notch. Our server was attentive and friendly and made us feel very welcome. The extensive menu had a bit of all, from burgers to biscuits and gravy and - of course - all of your breakfast classics. Prices were excellent; most of the breakfast dishes also included coffee.

I went with the #1 breakfast special, and it was SO much food: 3 types of meat, eggs, French toast, and potatoes. Pro-tip: upgrade your potatoes for $1.99 to include cheese, peppers, and onions. It was delicious! My partner had the biscuits and gravy and loved it as well. We can’t wait to return once we’re back...

Legendary staple of Ellsworth for years! I started out washing dishes here as a teenager to pay for drivers education when it was located down the hall from the restaurant. Now I take my kids here for delicious breakfast and memories. I always order the #1 and my kids get chocolate chip pancakes. Eggs are always cooked to perfection. The waitresses are friendly and attentive. This place looks and sounds exactly as it did when I was young. “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it!” certainly applies to Sylvia’s Cafe. Stop on in and enjoy some amazing home cooking! P.S don’t let the line scare you, it move’s really fast.
