I had the pleasure of trying the burger, sausage, broccoli salad, fries, banana pudding, Mac and queso, and sticky pork belly—and let me tell you, every single bite was an absolute delight.
The sticky pork belly was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the sausage link was perfectly juicy and bursting with flavor. The fries were golden, crispy, and even better when paired with the tangy Texas Red and Carolina Gold sauces.
The burger and the sausage link, though, were the (tied) stars of the show. Both choices are simple and very reasonably priced. The burger was one of the best burgers I’ve ever tasted. Each bite was perfectly seasoned, juicy, and incredibly satisfying. The sausage link was made with a perfectly balanced blend of ingredients that made it impossible to put down.
The Mac and queso was a standout as well—completely unique and absolutely next-level. It’s not your traditional mac n’ cheese; it’s a bold, creamy creation that left me wanting more. The broccoli salad was a refreshing surprise, with a perfectly balanced tanginess and flavor that was, quite literally, DILL-icious!
I finished off the meal with their banana pudding, which was the perfect way to end such a feast. Light, airy, and just sweet enough, it was like a cloud of dessert heaven.
On top of all the incredible food, the service was quick, warm, and friendly. I can’t wait to come back and explore more of the menu—this place is...
Read moreReally wanted to love Golden Boy but we were left wanting. Space is beautiful and we love barbecue...but, I can't say we will be back.
There were no AMAZING flavors. My son, who loves ribs and usually eats a full slab, picked at his 1/2 pound serving. Which brings me to my first point-- all meat is sold by the pound or half-pound, and I've never seen ribs sold by the half-pound (only full slab or half). There was no depth of flavor and he was also disappointed There were only vinegar-y sauce choices.
My husband and I are brisket fans but wouldn't crave theirs again, as again, no depth of flavor and it was quite fatty. At $16.99 for a half-pound, with sides an additional cost, it's a pricy meal.
We also tried the Mac n Queso (which tasted too much like nachos for me to get excited about it), the broccoli salad, (ok, heavy on the dill and no other zing) and the Cole slaw.
I hope this place is able to make a few tweaks as it's beautiful and has great indoor and outdoor space. If the flavors and food improve we'd try it again. I'm not opposed to spending more if the food is great, but with tip our meal was $80 for the 3 of us and that's a lot for a casual meal that didn't leave any of us...
Read moreWent here with a friend because we both love Victory Italian in Oak Park and they are sister companies.
Parking is minimal, but we were able to find 2 spots around 5pm.
When you walk up you have choices of sitting in the patio or sitting inside. There are 3 bars to order from! Or if you sit down at a table you can scan the QR code to order and pay for your drink that will come to your table.
The menu was still limited when we went because it’s only been open a couple weeks.
We ordered the chicken sausage, brisket, oven baked wings, Elote, Mac and Queso, and they suggested the potato casserole (it had ham in it for those who don’t eat pork).
Afterwards we were treated to some bread pudding. Now I’ve never been a fan, but this! this! was delicious and I’d order again!
I like the idea of being able to add my own dollop of sauce is what I love about BBQ places because I’m not a BBQ sauce fan so I like to do dip, I know, I know!
Definitely would go back and enjoy the food again. I’m not drinking right now, but the menu is extensive and gave me ideas for the next time I go!
The seating inside is limited, there are high top tables, regular seating, and booths in...
