Basil Leaf Thai Cuisine (OHIO) — Restaurant in Elyria

I absolutely love this place and the people who run it; they remember their customers! After moving here from DC, I felt starved for some decent Thai food—anything remotely decent. This place is absolutely INCREDIBLE! I seriously can’t get enough. I haven’t had a bad dish to date; the flavors are incredible.

I’ve tried the wings (for my boring boyfriend, lol), and he loved them. The Tom Yum Goong soup is fantastic—great broth with so much flavor. I often order the Seafood Madness, even though I sometimes struggle with how spicy it is; it’s just too good to pass up. I adore the Thai basil, the Drunken Noodles, and the Pad Thai.

Honestly, just about anything I’ve ever ordered from them has been authentic, flavorful, and made with very fresh ingredients. I’m usually skeptical about seafood dishes, but their seafood is legit and fresh!

The atmosphere is calm and service is timely but the food is different in a bad way. I've been a customer at the Thai house before basil leaf and now that there's new management and a new menu the food is rather disappointing. The mango chicken curry dish is way less spicy than the old pineapple chicken curry, the flavors don't center well on the pallet and lastly the tomato and onions throws off alot of the flavor you can get from the mango which drastically changes how the fruit itself tastes and interacts with the meat. The shrimp isn't de-tailed before hand which is something the old Thai house did and made sure off. The avocado curry isn't any better and their signature pad Thai dish lacks in spicy and packs a sweet unsavory flavor. Overall the new menu isn't very appealing nor appetizing to me. This is a fairly new restaurant opened by a couple and I have nothing but good words about this place, their service is very good, the food is excellent, and the atmosphere is also nice. They are very hard working and make delicious food and know how to take care of their customers. I would recommend this place 100 percent. We had ordered Panang Curry and Red curry and also the tum yum soup, the soup was so fresh and seasoned, the curry was very tasty with fresh vegetables and tofu, and the waiter was very attentive and respectful. I live in Avon lake and we used to drive to Strongsville for good Thai food now I can definitely say that I don't need to drive that far anymore for the delicious food.
