I find myself at a loss on how to start this review, It's not every day an eatery is too good for words...but here we are. NOTE: This is not going to be a quick review, if you are in a hurry to find out if you should eat here, yes you should.... you're welcome. Backstory, I just moved my family back to the PNW in June 2020 because I guess I like a challenge. My wife is a diehard foodie and even one of those Yelp Ă©lite Jedi or whatever it is. This is particularly regrettable given central Idaho has squat for higher end restaurants. Our old go to was Texas De Brazil, for more than a decade we have been throwing down there every chance we get, we have even been to more than a dozen different locations. We assumed, that even in pandemic, TDB would be a solid place.....we were wrong, the greatness that was TDB has gone and with it our interest in the once fine establishment. So the hunt was on, we were on the lookout for a new place for date nights, family outings and so on. We gave some local places a try or three and had a fair share of hits and misses, but nothing extra-ordinary. Now, back on track for dinner at Cowboy Chophouse; I took a gamble here and booked the place for the wife and my 20th anniversary (pro tip: feed her well, treat her great, lover her always). I booked the place on Yelp, not knowing if this little place in the sticks would even be up to date on the tech. But it was set, and this would be where I would spend my platinum anniversary with my wife. We showed up and strolled across the street to the lovely corner entrance and was immediately greeted by what would turn out to be Kirk, the owner. To my slight surprise, he had our reservation, but what's more, his son Dan had setup a secluded corner table for us. You see, when I booked the table, I added the simple note "20th anniversary" half expecting it would not be seen. But alas it was seen and reacted upon. We had a lovely table in the corner at the window, the always smiling staff brought us champagne. We ordered the seared ahi tuna to start with, itâs the appetizer we will always chose if it is an option. To our delight, it showed up quickly and was delicate as butter. The tuna was seared perfect and tase absolutely perfect. Both my wife and I ordered the Fillet, med-rare/rare and then sat back to enjoy the evening. BUT, this is where it goes from an eatery to a great place to eat. Something in town happened and the bower to several blocks went out. This next part is hard to explain, but the way the place felt when the power went out wasâŠ.wellâŠjust fine; that is to say, it didnât interrupt our meal a single bit. The staff just kept doing what they were doing with a smile and the owner never missed a beat. There was no panic, no grasp for pity from the staffâŠnothing, just 100% top notch service with a smile. This place is run so well, that even when the entire town loses power, my wife still gets a fantastic anniversary dinner. Yes, it was fantastic, the steak was aged perfectly and so tender I could have eten it with a paper spoon. It was one of those deep robust steaks that you never want to end, and the macNcheese.. my word, thatâs new. I will say; when the power went out..there wasnât a single âKARENâ in the building. Every patron finished their evening peacefully and quietly as if everything were complete normal. You simply cannot fake that kind of attampere. There is one last twist, Icing on the cake as it were. Due to the lack of power, there was no way top process payment, so Kirk and Dan, in an effort to not burden guests, sent us on our way without as much as an âI OWE YOUâ. They said, we will call you tomorrow when things are back up, no worries. Who does that in 2020? Good people running a good business, thatâs who. Extending trust to a person can be a humbling thing and this was no exception. Thank you Kirk, Dan, the rest of the family and staff for making this anniversary something a little extra special, and a special thanks to giving us our new...
Read moreCelebrating a milestone birthday and the person who had the actual birthday didn't eat anything. The Cowboy Chophouse ran out of their Porterhouse Pork Chop. The person who's birthday it was didn't have anything to eat, as that the only reason they go to Cowboy Chophouse in #Emmett. When making the reservation they were informed that someone had an allergy to onions. Unfortunately the person who's birthday it was is allergic to onions and their house salad came with onions. All the waitress had to do was immediately inform the table that they were out of pork chop and things would've been smooth. The Cowboy Chophouse actually ruins the birthday person's birthday. No Management came to apologize nothing. The table actually had to ask for a manager and his absolute excuse was they are having a supplier issue and people come for steaks and not the Porterhouse Pork Chop. The manager brushed it off as absolutely no big deal. Then being VERY condescending tells the person who is not eating at this point "I hope you're having a great birthday". Again all the waitstaff should have to done from the very first interaction was to inform the table that they are out of the Porterhouse Pork Chop....
Read moreThis place was outstanding and one of the best steakhouses I've ever been to.
For appetizers, I tried the ahi tuna, even though it's not normally my thing, and it was delicious. My personal favorite though was the spinach dip. It might have been the best spinach dip I have ever had. My wife tried the shrimp skewers, and she was in love with them.
I had the filet mignon for my entree. It was prepared perfectly to the level of doneness request. The side macaroni and cheese was outstanding. It almost looks like mashed potatoes, but it's just loaded with a nice, thick gouda cheese sauce and tastes amazing.
I also had the Crown Godfather cocktail. Definitely one of the best whisky cocktails I've had. It was a perfect balance of flavors.
Our server, Grant, was a blast and made us feel like we were part of the family.
The only disappointing thing about the whole experience is that I'm relocating in a couple of weeks and will not be able to go back. I wish I had found out about this place years ago. If you are in the Emmett, ID area (about a 40 minute drive from Boise and worth it), you owe it to yourself to stop here. Just make sure you make a...
