VERY ENJOYABLE DINNER ! There is a first time for everything and this was our first time having dinner here. I said to my wife a couple of days ago that we should try this Indian place on Friday evening. And my wife agreed ! So we turned up on spec without a reservation ( took a chance ) at around 6pm and a server/ hostess named Bianca welcomed us warmly. It looked a little quiet but Bianca assured us that the heavy action usually kicks off about 7pm. Glasses of cool water appeared on our table before anything was ordered. Bianca said to scan the QR Code for the menu. No prob ! They had an almost decent beer selection but I decided to play it safe and stick with a Stella Artois Lager. When I checked in on Yelp I received an offer for a FREE Garlic Naan. YES PLEASE ! To kick things off we ordered a CHICKEN SAMOSA APPETIZER ( Chicken turnover stuffed with potatoes, peas & spices ). My ice cold Stella Artois Lager and a very chilled tall glass hit the table. After filling my glass it tasted very refreshing ! For our entrees my wife ordered BUTTER CHICKEN ( Chicken cooked in a butter sauce & herbs incl a serve of Basmati Rice ) while I ordered LAMB VINDALOO ( Lamb cooked in a fiery hot curry with potatoes incl a serve of Basmati Rice ). To go with our FREE ( thanks Yelp ) GARLIC NAAN ( Naan topped with garlic & cilantro ) we also ordered KABULI NAAN ( Naan stuffed with coconut, raisins & nuts ). In the meantime Bianca brought us a COMPLIMENTARY serve of PAPADUM with 3 dipping sauces ( Sweet, Cilantro & Spicy hot ) and it was very delicious ! Our Chicken Samosa Appetizer arrived before too long and tasted quite good. A few more diners were appearing but these guys were doing great take-out business we noticed. Bianca brought out our entrees together on a huge tray....they looked pretty darn good ! My wife commented that the Chicken in her Butter Chicken was very tender and juicy. Now part of the reason I wanted to have dinner at an authentic Indian restaurant was I was sick & tired of asking for spicy level 5 at our fav local Thai and Indian places and getting a FAT ZERO spicy flavor. This place did not disappoint me....my Lamb Vindaloo nearly blew my head off. I LOVED IT ! I totally cleaned up my plate...this was real good ! We weren't sure about dessert but we like to try new things. My wife ordered RAS MALAI ( Milk cheesecake, Indian style with pistachios & thickened sweet milk ) and I couldn't resist the PISTA KULFI ( Indian style creamy ice cream with pistachio ). Bianca our server brought them out before too long and they tasted great. It pays to try a new place. We were very happy with our...
Read moreOur visit to Tandoori Palace yesterday was deeply disappointing, to say the least. We returned expecting the rich, flavorful dishes we’ve enjoyed in the past—particularly the Dahl and chicken kebabs—but this time, the experience fell far short.
The chicken kebabs we were served were rubbery, flavorless, and tasted far from fresh. The texture was akin to chewing on old taffy—dry, tough, and completely lacking the juicy, tender quality we remembered. After just one small bite, we requested that the dish be recooked. Unfortunately, when it returned, the result was no better.
The Dahl, another favorite of ours, was equally underwhelming. It lacked the rich, buttery complexity we’d come to expect—a bland, mediocre version of what used to be a standout dish.
These were two of the three primary dishes we ordered, and sadly, they left us thoroughly disappointed. Despite this, we paid full price and tipped 21%, out of respect for the staff. However, to make matters worse, both of us experienced stomach discomfort the following morning, which we suspect was caused by the chicken.
It’s unfortunate to see such a decline in quality. Perhaps Tandoori Palace has changed cooks or altered its recipes, but the food was far from the standard we were...
Read moreMy first time ordering from this place. I looked at the restaurant website and was very impressed / interested with tandoori fish. I ordered two of them ($21 each) along with few other items. When I reached home, I was terribly disappointed to see fish kabobs and not what tandoori fish as displayed in website. Called them to report and I was told that none of them are aware of what is included in website. Never returning here!!
I am really shocked at myself for returning to this place again today, We were craving for some Indian food and ended up here since we did not have time to go all the way to San Diego.
Today we ordered Fish Curry which was very salty and smelling, we ordered Bhindi Masala which was fibrous and not tasty, we ordered Mango Chutney which never had any mango. It tasted so bad and there was something that was so hard to bite but it was not Mango. We asked the waitress about what this chutney is made of she said THREE TIMES that she will check with the chef but never did and came back to us.
NOW, please Mark my words ............ I am NEVER EVER coming back to...
