Hooked on Sushi — Restaurant in Encinitas

Do not come here I used to come here all the time I’ve gotten the roll that I got tonight at least nine times. Snow ball roll. I will never come back here again. I will never come back here again except to contact the manager again tomorrow to demand a refund.

I ordered this sushi roll. It’s a baked roll. I’ve ordered it before and every time that I’ve ordered it. It comes with jalapeños, but there’s sliced on top of the sushi. Roll on each individual piece of the sushi rolls. I go get my order halfway down the road, I started eating And I realized that instead of the sliced on top, they were chopped into little pieces all inside the roll, the role is basically in edible so I called the restaurant and the girl on the phone was super rude and essentially told me that her man is not available to speak to me, but she’s available to talk to me. Tell her what’s going on and she said the role is spicy. I let her know I understand that it’s a spicy roll. I’ve gotten it several times before, and the jalapeños are all always sliced on top of each individual piece of the sushi. They’re never chopped up into little pieces inside like a bunch of them. I let her know that the role is an edible had to spit out. One of the pieces was way too spicy. She tells me she doesn’t know what she’s gonna do that. There’s nothing she can do that. She doesn’t know what to tell me. She tells me that I’m wrong basically gaslight me. And then proceeds to tell me that her manager is way too busy to speak to me. I then asked if she could remake the role and she scoffed at me and told me that’s not gonna happen.

I tell her I’d still like to speak to the manager anyway, and she proceeds to put me on a third hold.

I will never be coming back here again, which sucks because this is like my favorite restaurant whenever I go to visit family I always come through here and order.

Hooked on sushi I highly suggest you train your staff better or better yet get your orders correct.

I should also note that I asked for no jalapeños to begin with, and they still put them on there even though I asked for no jalapeños, and it doesn’t even show on the receipt so whoever took my order, didn’t even put it on there that I asked for no jalapeños.

And like that’s not even a big deal but the fact that a staff member has to yell at you and is absolutely rude is...

I had the pleasure of dining at Hooked on Sushi, and it was an experience that I think is worth sharing. It was an unusual scenario because I arrived just 20 minutes before closing time. Despite the timing, the staff welcomed me with open arms and displayed genuine warmth and hospitality.

I could tell they were preparing to wrap up for the day, but they didn’t let this show in their demeanor or in the quality of their service. If anything, they seemed to go the extra mile to ensure my dining experience was as good as any other customer’s would be at peak hours.

I want to commend the staff for their professional conduct. I understand that my late arrival could have been an inconvenience, and I appreciate their graciousness in accommodating me. The level of service I received was beyond what I expected, and it’s not something you come across every day.

As for the sushi, it was a feast for the taste buds. Every piece was a perfect blend of flavors and freshness, testament to the chefs’ skills and passion.

In conclusion, Hooked on Sushi not only won me over with their fantastic food but also with their exceptional customer service. They’ve set the bar high for hospitality in the industry, and I can’t wait for my next visit. This review is based on my first and only visit at the time of this post thus far. I had the tonkatsu ramen. The chasu pork was DELICIOUS. The broth, which is the most important part for me, was definitely lacking. I'm no ramen expert, but it didn't seem to have the taste of a well cured ramen pot that I think is the key to excellent ramen. I will update this review when I try the sushi, which had some very interesting choices, when I'm not so full. As to the alcohol, they had my favorite Japanese beer Asahi, which is pretty standard, but I particularly like DRY sake and the Ozeki dry sake, which I haven't encountered anywhere else in Encinitas thus far, fit the bill perfectly! Atmosphere: I gave this five stars because I like the aesthetic and, while a very personal thing, the music. I shazam'd at least 5 songs during my stay... make that 6 now :) Service: I'm giving it 5 stars. I would give it more if I could! Melissa Hernandez, who was my "server" literally blew my mind. She is clearly the hardest working person I observed in the place and it was later that I learned that she was the MANAGER. I have NEVER seen a manager in a restaurant working as a server let alone as hard as she was... ever! She was very open and receptive to my 2 cents and I personally cannot wait to return and update...
