Hands down, the BEST pizza I've had in Erie! I'm originally from Connecticut, so I'm totally spoiled by New Haven style pizza (Frank Pepe's, Sally's, Modern aPizz) and being just two hours away from New York City, we had access to the best slices available. when I moved to Erie I gave up hope of ever finding something that even closely resembles the pizza I grew up with... Until NOW!

The crust is crisp, light and airy but not doughy, the sauce is tangy but not overly complex (which is a HUGE problem in this town) the cheese is 100% low moisture, whole milk mozzarella, and the toppings are fresh, (and in my case with the sausage) handmade in-house.

As a baker, I appreciated the tangy fermentation in the dough. My guess is they cold-ferment it overnight for maximum flavor and crunch. it has a slight char out of the oven and holds up against the "flop" test. You can fold this pizza with no fear of the toppings falling out.

My only criticism is they're a little stingy with the toppings, but that won't stop me from returning, possibly many times over. I'll just ask for a bit more next time.

Elliot and Bianca have a winner here. Just GO...

When I was at Pitt, in my Intro to Non-Fiction Course, I once wrote a story called “The Town Without Pizza.” As you can probably deduce front the title, it was about growing up in Erie and never being able to find respectable pizza. My formative years were filled with angst and frustration over the lack of good pizza. “Why! Whyyyyy!” I used to cry out in frustration and dread. True there were some places that popped up every now and again, such as the original Eric B’s, that were decent, but they all eventually faded away. Perry’s Tavern has FINALLY created a noteworthy pizza in Erie, PA. It’s exceptional and you can tell these people know what they are doing. The hallmark of any great pizza establishment is the ability to make a cheese pizza. A cheese pizza is the essence of pizza…dough, cheese and sauce. They nail all 3 components. You shouldn’t need 25 toppings to mask the horrid flavor of some of the revolting pizzas circulating in this town. Try Perry’s…you...

One word. Go. You don’t need to read this review, you simply need to go.

The specialty pizzas I ordered, the Honey Bear and the Buffalo Chicken Hottie were so delicious. The combination of the vibey atmosphere and mouth watering food is genuine perfection! Can’t wait to go again!

If you are a fan, the pineapple I got on a “build your own” was amazinggggg; it’s roasted 1/4 slices of rings, not raw tidbits, truly the best way to do it. (In case you’re curious, I paired it with the Papa Frank’s Sausage and the Cherry Pepper Relish. I know, I’m a genius.)

*Gluten free alert! They’ve truly nailed the gluten free crust game. It’s on the thicker side, ACTUALLY tastes bready, and crisps up nicely for a good crunch. Like some other gluten free products it simply doesn’t “color up” like gluten filled products do, so don’t let...

We were driving from Canada, very tired and wanted something to eat. We stopped in the Food Hall, and only two places were open on Sunday; we did not want to eat fried chicken or pizza at all. However, we started to ask for some suggestions at Perry's Tavern, and we completely changed our minds. Yeah, we order Pizzas only because of the honor's hospitality. And it was delicious, we ordered the PeroggiPizza, and we were all so surprised at how deliciously it was, all made in-house. Thank you for the suggestion.

This is a pleasant tavern with a focus on pizza and a variety of drinks. While brick oven fired pizza isn’t my favorite type, they make a great example of this type. Thin crust, but not super crunchy, good cheese, but the sauce is a bit plain. The crowd is typically light, especially in the later hours, with no loud music blaring. Service is quick and pleasant; and they keep everything clean which can be a big challenge in downtown restaurants.
