Grab & Go — Restaurant in Escanaba

Had a chance to visit with Phyllis, who still works a few days a week but has passed this wonderful restaurant, which has been in business for 50 years, on to her grandson. From what we witnessed he too is passionate about providing outstanding service & food. I’d guess you can’t go wrong with any of the 6 homemade soups, breads or desserts, made daily for their loyal customers and those passing through Escanaba. We ate here Monday on the way to Mackinaw Island, and because it was so good, we decided to spend last night here, go to their wonderful Military museum this morning, then enjoy homemade soup and dessert again today on our way to Two Rivers, WI. Thank you again for the delicious split pea soup and cherry crisp with homemade whipped cream. If I lived nearby I too would be a loyal repeat...

I thoroughly enjoyed this place. Small. Thoughtful. Home cooking feel. Great prices. A good meal for me for $10. My wife loved her lasagna ($7) and said it was the closest one to her mother’s that she hasn’t had in nearly 20 years. i enjoyed my 2 tacos, sides and drink. One side being their famous white chili was great. The slice of cake that her and I shared ( banana bread with a perfect light frosting) it was moist and delicious (and i dont like banana bread). 🧁. We were visiting relatives in Escanaba and we needed to have Thanksgiving dinner catered. Being from out of town, it wasn't easy to find someone to cater our meal. Grab & Go delivered! (Their catering company is called Savory & Rich) I'd encourage you to inquire about their catering that they offer.

Our meal was delicious and very cost effective and the food was delicious!! One pro tip, we ordered mashed potatoes as part of our meal. The gravy wall next to the potatoes was impenetrable.
