The Old Mill Saloon — Restaurant in Estacada

The reason I care enough to leave a long review for this restaurant is mostly due to the service always taking quite a while. From being seated to then being greeted and finally receiving the food you’re looking at an hour sometimes longer in my experience. I’ve gone for lunch once which was a disaster because my family came down from vancouver and i suggested this place. After ordering we waited around 50 minutes to receive 4 plates of food. Ive mostly sat in the bar area and after 5 separate visits to the old mill saloon I did not notice an improvement based on bartenders or business. No matter what it seems like you are forgotten. Having to wait 15 minutes to be greeted is not okay. Having to beg for a check is not good service and at one point I went up to the bar and had asked for the check and she told me to wait at my table and I still proceeded to wait for so long I decided it’s best not to tip that visit since she clearly did not care about doing her best. I know waiting tables isn’t easy, I know being a bartender can be incredibly frustrating and stressful but the experiences were so lackluster I’m a little unsure why someone would consider coming back. Also, the drinks are incredibly strong. I’m all about gettin my moneys worth but the drinks I’ve received were just nasty thanks to the copious amount of alcohol in them. Just my personal experience. The servers are lazy and rude unless ur someone they know & even then the Jr high drama swirls around ! We went in for breakfast the girl looked up as we walked in and rolled her eyes as if she was annoyed we were interrupting her flirt session with the 3 guys at the bar . We sat down and waited for menus 10 minutes & I have to go ask for menus and if we could order something to drink . That seemed to irritate her even more so again we waited 15 more minutes to get ice water we asked to order breakfast then and she said yeah when I get time ! Seriously she went right back to standing behind the bar talking to the young men sitting there as she proceeded to call us rude names to them . Literally we sat there 10 minutes then to the poker machines still another at least 15 minutes go by as we play til we finally just get up and leave as we walk out the door she says wow how fn rude just walk out and don't even leave a tip ! Here's a tip for you save the drama for yo momma after work . A tip is a gratuity not a requirement and you were not even worthy of a tip with an attitude like yours . This was our first time to the Old Mill Saloon and we were not disappointed. Oh my goodness. They have THE BEST onion rings I have ever had!! 😋😋None of the lame frozen stuff you often get. They must be hand dipped in magical batter. Sooo, sooo, good.

And they serve their salads in metal bowls! Genius!!! I loved having the extra room to actually mix it all up. Why haven't other establishments thought of this? Don't stop doing that. Maybe others will catch on. 😃

We also really liked the ambiance and how spacious it is, along with being able to bring my grandchildren if I want. It has plenty of room for families to enjoy a meal and also other adults to enjoy themselves without with the families 🍺. There is a definite separation of the two areas, which is fantastic.

The service was spot on. Our waitress was very friendly and often checked in on us to make sure we didn't need anything. We kept her busy. :-)

At any rate, we loved it and will definitely be back...
