Work trip with coworker after a long day. I was very happy with the food, but our waitress did make me feel a bit angry. My coworker is a big ol boy. Like BIG. He usually orders a hefty amount of food to cover it. When we ordered, he was halfway done, she turned to me and asked my order, to which I let her know he wasn't finished yet. She checked her order form, he said she was correct, and she said "but you still want more?!" OMG HOW FREAKING RUDE!! When she left, I mentioned her reaction, and he seemed a bit embarrassed but shrugged it off. It was definitely not okay. When we got our plates, he put syrup on his eggs and bacon, but had none left for the franch toast. The waitress started to ask if we had everything we needed- hot sauce, ketchup, syrup, etc, but stopped after syrup, looked down and laughed and said "oh well you definitely don't need anymore syrup!!". Uh, WHAT?? What type of person says that to a person they don't know, that they are serving??? What gave her the right to treat him that way?? He kinda awkwardly laughed it off, and said he usually eats FT without syrup, but still, I was FUMING. I still am! The more I recall this visit, the more upset I get. A person's weight, eating habits, health, requests and decisions are absolutely 0% the business of the employees, beyond filling said requests with no further commentation. I know servers make small talk, but there SHOULD be common sense in there somewhere that stops it from being these types of interactions, and the main goal of small talk in this type of situation should be comfort, and creating a bond/relationship between the patrons and the server, thus making the experience better for the patron, and increasing the tip for the server. Usually this type of attitude comes from younger, more inexperienced employees, but this was a middle aged+ woman, who should have known better. On top of all that, her service wasn't even good. We had to repeat the orders 3 times each, because she kept repeating it back wrong. (It was 3 meals, simple stuff, no substitutions or unique requests) She repeatedly forgot our bread, THEN forgot the apple butter numerous times, but I did finally get it when I was finished with my meal, so she brought a to-go container of bis uits for me. I never imagined the apple butter would not be there... It was, after-all, the sole reason for the need for the to go bread in the first place. But lo and behold, I opened the box for a midnight snack, to discover 6 biscuits. That's it. No butter, no apple butter, or jellies of any type. I wanted to address her about her attitude, before we left, but I didn't, just because I felt it would make coworker feel embarrassed. It would me, in fact, I was embarrassed enough for him, for the both of us. This was the Evansville location on a Wednesday night, between 544- 629pm, and I will make sure I do not return to...
Read moreOh my folks, i hate giving bad reviews. The service (delivery) and treatment by the individual alleging to be a manager at this restaurant were reprehensible. 21 years of military service, im in town for medical procedure. My husband and I ordered food from this establishment. We didn't realize that online at the cracker barrel website, when you have food delivered as a guest, the food is delivered by door dash and if there are any problems, you may be out of luck. The money charged for both meals was at or about $86.00 dollars. When the food arrived, 3 items were missing, the gravy wasn't cooked long enough and tasted like flour, the brown gravy was overcooked, the macaroni was dry, the chicken was chewy and not cooked to order. We called the store and spoke with one manager who refused to discuss the matter and hung the phone up while we were talking. Before disconnecting the call, the individual who will rename unamed told us to contact the door Dash. We called Door Dash, who advised us to call Cracker Barrel again! We called Cracker Barrel again and spoke with a manager who said he would call us back after he looked into the situation. He called back and said he would credit our account $35.00, which HE STATED was very gracious. VERY GRACIOUS, he also suggestedwe come to the restaurantto have the order replaced??? Folks, due to disabilities/medical reasons, we could not drive to the restaurant from our hotel room to have the order replaced. We explained this but it fell on deaf ears.. I can't understand this type of treatment. Hard earned money spent at an establishment that we thought would be great. I would not recommend this...
Read moreThis is going to be a mixed review. The Manager was spot on with his job. He is a great manager and took responsibility for his workers even though they messed up tremendously. He apologized for the way the food came out to us and that it never should have happened. He was very sweet and we thanked him kindly. We had five people with us and they placed a fifth chair at a four person table and it was right in front of that area that people constantly walk through, so she was getting bumped all the time and her purse kept getting knocked off her chair. It was a very tight squeeze especially with all the plates and sides on the table. It was not crowded, so none of us understood why they just didn’t push two tables together to make room for everyone. My husband and I both ordered the chicken meals and they both came out to us burnt on the edges and the batter wasn’t cooked in the center. The waitress came out at first cheery and helpful, till the chicken came out to us. Then the mistakes started to happen. Not all the sides were ever given to us even through we had asked repeatedly for them and after two drinks they just stopped all together. You could clearly see that five people were out of drinks. We had ordered new dinners and instead of bringing them out to us on a plate, she brought them to us in to go containers, just in case “We wanted to leave since we had been there so long.” Her words. But then said that she didn’t want to rush us or us to feel rushed. (Really) So we ate some of our dinner and left very disappointed. Once again the Manager was a very kind man, but his...
