Schlotzsky's — Restaurant in Evansville

At 8:20 pm I order two of the “Pick 2.” I was told they’d already pulled the soup so did I want them to warm it. Why do you pull the soup 40 minutes before you close. The cashier was very nice about it, so I said no, I’d warm it myself at the hotel. I tipped when I paid… not something I usually do for fast food but she was so nice. I return to our hotel. Husband said his sandwich tasted good, however at one point he had to spit out “something hard.” I didn’t check that out myself, but that’s not something you want to have in a turkey sandwich. I ordered a Smoke Cheesy Sandwich as clearly noted on my receipt. However, as per the photo of my sandwich, that is not what I received. I tried the sandwich because I was hungry, but it was not to my taste so I did not finish it. I’m accustomed to checking my bag when leaving fast food establishments, but now I have to open everything before I leave… not very customer friendly. And I even tipped for this poor service. Staying nearby while traveling. Haven't seen a Schlotzsky's since Texas (very popular). Went inside the travel center, took a few moments to find the counter for service. No one there, rang bell for assistance. The young man was pleasant, took my order. The name on receipt said "Tabbie". So I walk around while waiting. At some point looked through the door to see employees walking around talking, who knows what else. Why do they stay behind the door rather than showing customers they are available by being up front and visible. This must be a dream job for them. Stay out of sight, have fun. I saw two people approach the counter, both walked away (one was there when my order came out. The young woman ignored her). I can't say that I blame them for leaving. The employees absence says it all. The only reason for 4 stars; the original sandwich was incredible. I would love to go back while in town; that lack of customer service puts me off....

The food is good which is why I go back. The service is terribly slow. Even when there is nobody else there you can count on 15 minutes to get your food. If ordering more than one sandwich, be grateful if at least one of them is correct. I have never gotten a multiple sandwich order that has been correct for everyone. Fortunately the mistakes are usually pretty good and we just eat them rather than complain. This place would be great with some decent management or employees that cared at all about being good at...
