Great food choices - balancing Evansville tastes with creative cooking - and good drinks. The barely there sides were amazing. They're missing hot beverages and lack consistency and identity. (When you can tell they lack consistency on one visit - they lack consistency) I don't understand whether they're called The Belly of the Wolf or whether they're trying to be fine dining or fine casual. I know nothing about this place. I found them as Shymik's on Yelp and went in. I've been to Micheline Star restaurants and this has that potential - it helps business but I wouldn't wish that level of work on anyone who doesn't want it. The good: The server (and her quiet baby) was delightful. Attentive service, nice space (good bones - needs soul) Great Wine List, Excellent Menu Choices. Finally a great menu in Evansville! The recommended hen was one of the most delicious pieces of roasted chicken I've ever had; a perfectly seasoned crispy skin and juicy meat. These people can make some food! - The carrots and a parsnip puree sides on that plate were amazing. I could have a plate of only those remarkable sides. There are menu options that allow diners to get away with a $30 night out or splurge on a $200. meal experience.
The Not So Good: No coffees. The dressing on the greens was too assertive - a rookie mistake that's probably not the usual. The servings of the delicious food were subjectively a tad slight. 1 overpriced tiny dessert, a creme brulee - delicious as it was. This is the only stop I've ever made in Evansville where I felt the offerings justified the pricing. I have found in general that elevated casual dining in Evansville (which is uninspired at other places in town) costs more than comparible towns like Chattanooga and Louisville. The space is nice but feels a little soulless. Could have been due the dreary Evansville night. It needs ... something to give it soul. An improved entrance setup and overall softening for sure. I could have gone without hearing someone being reprimanded - or being told "oh sh*t my bad" by an employee - I couldn't tell you if that is Evansville typical or not. I'm not that sensitive about it and wouldn't care at...
Read moreI unfortunately had the worst service I've have experienced while eating out yesterday. I'm not writing this to be a prude. I'm writing this so hopefully the manger/owner can step up and do something. I had reservations at noon, and I arrived at 11:50. I was seated, waiting for my dad. I was able to order a drink. My dad arrived 10 mins later, and the waitress didn't come to take our order until 15 mins later. We both ordered the NY strip steak. At this point, the restaurant was starting to clear out; there isn't that many tables to begin with. Not only did it take another hour for our food to come out, our waitress didn't come by once. Not to offer a refill, not let us know what was going on. The manger had to come by to let us know what was going and offered us a 50% discount, which was not even applied at the end, and to finally refill our drinks. This was my first time visiting and I probably won't be back. I go to Sauced probably once a week as it's my favorite place to dine in Evansville, and I have never had a bad service there once and the food is always excellent. Hope Schymicks can get it together soon because this was a huge...

The best neighborhood restaurant ive experienced thus far. The menu changes , middle to upper class clients, moderate priced, delicious highend meals prepared in a renovated 2 story home that seats intimately about 20 & outside as well during the Fall. All the ingredients are sourced locally within a 50 mile radius using talented farmers from the tristate area. The building is next to Moe's. The perfect place for date-night or to impress the inlaws. It's the perfect venue for high-end meals blended in a home setting. Although a bar is present, why would you leave the dinner table and isolate yourself from the good company at the table and miss out on the overall feeling of a home dinner? Follow them on Facebook to see the latest menu. On my visit wagyu beef was on the menu. The chef informed me that duck and lamb will be on the menu sometime in November. Rating: 5 stars times 3 We will return. I just realized that I didn't take pics of the meal. I wish them overall...
