I suppose if you see a rental truck outside that means you shouldn't go because the whole back art gallery was closed off for an event. Which would have been fine if the World Art and Artifacts was open. It wasn't. At least there's the large gallery to look forward to. Wrong. It's about 1/3 full with none of the classical art that once graced its walls. It's a large-ish area of the history of the museum with a big pat on the back to the directors. With 4 small and one large Picasso pieces shoved in the corner. There were 2 1/2 more small walls of art as well as the religious art. The art that was there was beautiful in its own right, but it seems misleading to hang a large banner for the Picasso exhibit when there's not a lot there and it isn't even prominent. Read moreEvansville Museum was the perfect stop on a snowy day! A blend of history, science, art, and transportation all in one place. The hands-on science exhibits are fun and reminiscent of The Magic House in St. Louis—just on a smaller scale.
The history section is truly special, with a recreated town featuring wood floors and charming storefronts. The art museum was partially under construction, but the available exhibit space showcased an eclectic mix of modern art, sculptures, prints, and paintings.
The transportation exhibits, housed in a separate building, highlighted the railroad’s impact on the region.
If you’re in Evansville, take an hour or two to explore—it’s worth the visit!

Nevertheless, we appreciated the effort put into the presentation, and the visuals of the Solar System were captivating. With a more focused approach on the solar system, the tour could be even more enriching...
