Spankey's Una Pizza Downtown — Restaurant in Evansville

6/28/2024 This is an update to my original review. We still love Spankys Una Cafe. I will praise a place, but feel justified when a place starts to slide, also reviewing. The pizza we got, The Boss, was great. The 7 piece wing we got, however, we're not, and haven't been. The largest one out of the order wasn't even bigger then a package of Splenda. Also, the attention to cleaning, I'd give a 3. I was there recently, when they opened, and Wow, the lobby floor, glass doors, drink cases were filthy. Nothing had been swept, or cleaned. And they weren't short staffed, lots of staff on premises, so no excuse./And the register person's clothes, looked like they're been slept in, twice. So if the business is falling of, you know why/What a great place, and right on Haynie's Corner. Went for lunch, service was quick, but still relaxing. Our waitress Hannah, just as sweet as can be. Ryan, the owner, took time to stop and talk with us, shared some stories about his place, couldn't ask for a nicer guy. And the food, ( which we have eaten for some time,) was fantastic. • BEWARE!!!! * THERE WAS A HAIR IN OUR PIZZA!!! And when we brought it to the attention of the waitress she offered to remake the pizza. At that point we were all so disgusted that nobody was eating anything else so we declined. We could hear the staff in the kitchen all questioning the fact the hair was baked inside the pizza toppings!!! Everyone denying it was them. The waitress then brought us a bill for the FULL PRICE of the food our party ordered. Not even a small discount on the price. Just the full bill and an apology. I WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT AND WILL BE LETTING EVERYONE KNOW OF THE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE WE HAD!!! SOOOO DISGUSTING!!!

My wife and I were regulars at the West Side location, so when it was announced that a Haynie's Corner/Downtown establishment was opening it was music to our ears! Their crust is classic Evansville cracker crust that Evansville is known for, but Spankey's does it better than anyone else! Their breadsticks are so fresh and so delicious that it's hard to not get them every time. One of their best features is their bar. It's a modern design that shows old movies and is set up perfectly for conversation and mingling. Every bartender (and employee) are kind and considerate and do a fantastic job of keeping drinks filled and bellies happy! We suggest The Boss pizza or the Dreamer, but classic pepperoni can't be beat sometime! They also have a full coffee bar, breakfast pizza and homemade cinnamon rolls. GREAT place for Saturday...
