Waffle House — Restaurant in Evergreen

I'm originally from Mobile and I've been a Waffle House fan for as long as I can remember. I'm nearly 70 years old which makes me an experienced customer. :-)

I've been living in Michigan for the last 23 years, and there are no Waffle Houses anywhere close to me. That's why a Waffle House is usually my very first restaurant stop whenever I drive south to Mobile to visit relatives.

Most Waffle Houses are clones of one another. Usually the food is always great at all of them, and the staff is always friendly, but now and then an exceptional employee makes my visit even more pleasant. Tony was the star of the show the day I dropped in at the Evergreen restaurant. When I entered the Evergreen restaurant, I was approached and greeted by Tony who personally assured me I would be well taken care of. Tony's enthusiasm truly impressed me.

My waitress was Summer, and she kept my coffee cup full with a smile. Whenever she was too busy to fill it, one of the very busy cooks filled in the gap whenever he noticed my cup was dry. By the way, I always drink a lot of coffee. :-)

Overall, Waffle Houses in general are almost always great, but the Evergreen Waffle House in particular is definitely exceptional. Kudos, guys and gals. I really do appreciate your hard work and efforts to please. Keep up the good work, and please consider giving Tony a much...

Best waffle house I've ever been to. It was clean and the employees were nice and professional. What really amazed me was a professional guy named Tony that was cleaning tables and seating guests. He really brightened our morning with his kind words, he is a very special person who is a huge asset to this waffle house. I am glad they gave him the opportunity to work. He even danced a little for us which made everyone smile! Secondly, when I wasn't watching Tony I was watching the cook, I didnt get his name but oh my goodness. Wow. Amazing. Speed and efficiency at its finest. He never turned around, he hovered over that grill and cooked with passion. He was so fast and clean while he did it, I found myself staring at him without even blinking. The whole experience was horrible. If the cook would have spent as much time cooking as she did singing and dancing to the loud inappropriate rap music it would not have taken so long to get our food. There were only a few people in there and it took over 10 minutes for someone to come get our drink order. The waitress and the cook had bad attitudes the entire time we were there. The bacon was burned and the hash browns were raw, they were constantly complaining about all the customers orders that had been messed up and burned. She loudly stated that she was fixing to tell everyone to come back there and cook it them damn selves. We were afraid to complain about our food, after all their comments, we had no clue what they would do to it before they brought it back to the table. We have had many meals at Waffle House and this was by far the worst meal...
