Licks Unlimited — Restaurant in Excelsior

4.5 stars if I could (seriously SO CLOSE to 5!) I liked this place and will definitely be back! We were visiting Excelsior brewery nearby and decided to walk over for ice cream because I saw this place online. Super cute little shop (not a lot of seating inside) with a lot of ice cream options that sounded amazing. Also it's along a little shop-lined street that on a warmer day would be nice to just walk along and explore ice-cream-in-hand. I don't eat dairy so I was excited about the two sorbet options AND the featured flavor: Oatmilk vanilla with chocolate chips. We got a scoop of the oatmilk ice cream in a waffle cone and ordered a half-and-half pint of the 2 sorbets to-go. Was awesome that the girl working let us mix the flavors in the pint. So good! I even recommended the oat milk ice cream to another group that came in and the lady who got it said, "good call on the oat milk ice cream." Would totally give 5 stars if there were a few more non-dairy options (especially the really delicious-sounding ones) and I hope they make the oatmilk one an everyday item! $7 for a pint felt like the winner to me given we could get a cone to split there and a pint to go and feel like it wasn't breaking the bank compared to some other ice...

Staff was friendly and knowledgable. Kudos for the way they organize orders by group! They have one service person help each group (7 in ours) from selection to payment. Try the exhausted parent flavor (especially if you are one) made with bourbon and really adds to the flavor. The ice cream (that I tasted) was on par with Sebastian Joe's ice cream, another small boutique provider (although they have more than one location). The selection was significant with some other snarky flavors I'll be back to try, also a creative collection of cones and cup sizes. a nice shop on main shopping strip in Excelsior with a hip vibe, maybe try dinner at Coalition first, to make a meal as good as...

i've never felt compelled to write a review on an establishment before, but after my experience last night that changed. ice cream is always great, unfortunately two of the employees were incredibly rude, rolling eyes at customers, slamming our sodas on the counter, loudly complaining about us in the back room, and generally acting like we weren't welcome. granted, it was 20 minutes before close, but i still don't think that warrants the treatment i and several of my friends received. we were appalled at the behavior. i'm also seeing similar recent reviews about the same 2 employees, which tells me that these two seem to be a reoccuring theme in unpleasant interactions...
