LILIA Flower Boutique — Local services in Excelsior

Owner and creative director, Liz Mattingly, has established a flower boutique on the quality Water Street in Excelsior. I see her passion to help make celebrations and family life a special occasion when events occur, or you just feel like lifting someone else’s spirits. Her luxurious, creative, style comes out in the most exquisite, curated botanicals.

Her mix of local fresh cut flowers and exceptional greens flow lusciously out of pots and inspire the eye.

I’ve owned a floral business before and run a high-end floral design shop, so it is really fun for me to send something truly unique and stunning for an occasion. Lilia sells some of the finest orchards in the Twin Cities. The shop offers a nice selection of premium floral pots, candles, and fun gardening gift items, like her plant soil moisture meter. Someone who loves plants and florals as much as I do wants to see them flourish and last.

Plants are on healthy root systems and available for pick up in artistic containers. She also sells a few gardening books and whatever fun garden fares she finds that fits the season.

We’ve bought these adorable little pillar candles in a glass container for dinners with evening guests and have one for each guest to take home. Fragrances include Cashmere, Whiskey & Wood, Bayberry, Egyptian Cotton, Ozone, Lemon Basil (a favorite), Hedgerow, and more.

And don’t forget that chocolates go with roses. Or anything. :) Often there are some out to sample. And boy, they are the best! Excellent...

I should have written a rave review when I first ordered flowers from Lilia a while ago for a friend who had just returned home from cancer surgery. She went on and on about how beautiful they were and how long they lasted.

This time I was on the receiving end and absolutely need to write a review proclaiming the absolute gorgeous nature and sweet tone of the arrangement a friend sent. All my favorite shades of pink and multiple textures of white in beautiful presentation. Even the gal who delivered them was just so sweet and kind and shared in my joy as she handed them to me with a “Happy Birthday!” Now - over a week later, I still have so many blooms and greens that are still in great shape so I just disassembled the arrangement to make a new smaller one. I was delighted to see that Lilia didn’t use a web of clear tape to create the structure for the stems, but rather a whimsical, swirling elegance of curly willow inside the stunning fresh, variegated aspidistra leaves that lined the glass. I think I’ll keep the willow and try to recreate a little of the same beauty next time I pick up some flowers at the store. STOP LOOKING! THIS IS WHERE TO GO!!

A dear friend lost her father last week and I was looking for a local florist that had more than the basic look you see with online national companies. After a quick glance at their site and Instagram, it was clear they were it.

I worked with Zak over the phone in the late afternoon yesterday and gave a brief description of my friend and the reasons for the order. Zak was a breeze to work with and communication was stellar from beginning to end. Zak also graciously printed a gift card I emailed to attach to the card.

This morning I received a call from Zak confirming delivery time as well as a picture of the arrangement. The flowers were delivered to her less than an hour after that and I am forever grateful for the magic the team created with the arrangement.

My friend wrote "This is the most beautiful floral arrangement I have ever received!!!" and I could feel that it brightened her day tremendously. The artistry and intention in the arrangement perfectly embodied my description of my bright, powerful, graceful, and beautiful friend. I will be a lifelong returning customer.
