Lago Tacos - Excelsior — Restaurant in Excelsior

I decided to stop by the this location to grab some food on the way home. I went in last night (Friday) at 8pm (hour before close) to make a take out order. There was no host or hostess so I waited. What appeared to be servers, were standing around in front of the kitchen window looking directly at me with no intention of coming over. When finally approached, I was told I can make an order at the bar, but no bartender came over. The initial young man that approached me was told that no orders can be taken because of a computer issue by a not so pleasant person (very strange because there were seated tables and people at the bar). The young man seemed surprised by the statement of the unpleasant young woman, but came to me to say that he had forgotten about the the issue of not being able to take orders. I left with a strange vibe from this encounter. I was really surprised by a few things: 1) the tentative service (despite the number of not so busy employees looking at me as I entered); 2) lack of preparation during computer outage (i.e orders by hand/use a manual card machine); 3) the dismissive nature of turning customers away by some of the staff. We have been to Lago Tacos many times. I agree it is in a fantastic location and has a great atmosphere. Every time we have been here it has been hit or miss, this time it was definitely a miss. First issue was the beer, my husband ordered a beer and as he took the first sip he said, this is flat, not carbonation and no taste. He told the bartender and she poured another, this time a different brand, same issue. It was realized that the carbonation had been turned off, maybe all day. They turned the carbonation on and gave him another beer, same odd flavor, and no carbonation, it turns out they were giving him a Octoberfest beer instead of what he ordered, it was eventually figured out and they poured him a short sample of the "corrected" beer, tasted fine. The constant interruptions and discussion were annoying, but then they charged him for his beer, after all of that you would think that it could be on the house. We did order food and when it arrived it was pretty cold, after all of the hassle with the beer we just ate it and left. We won't be back anytime soon. Oh, and they had plenty of bodies working so no excuses about being short staffed. Sadly, I also purchased a gift card so I am going subject someone else to bad...

I liked coming here for happy hour until I realized the food is not as good as it seems. First of all (random), but, the first time my girlfriend and I went on the 4th of July for happy hour- each had 2 1 oz well drinks and on the 3rd the bartender had the waiter tell us we should be drinking more water and made sure were not too drunk. We were literally sitting and just eating our nachos. 😂 Anyways, a couple times since, the nachos toppings are always disproportionate (very little potatoes/meat). What made me not want to come here again was 2 nights ago our whole table's food was COLD after having waited 30+ min for it! 2 stacks of nachos with cold hard cheese, my $17 (Overpriced af) burrito covered in cold queso, inside just as cold. The side options are all bad- I had the pleasure of attempting to eat a colder than room-temp, 2-inch diameter, MUSHY af, sweetcorn patty. I was so disappointed and will not be back. Service is always kinda weird and uncomfortable too. The vibes are just off. Sorry (not sorry) Lagos. I tried really hard...
