Cornerstone Pub — Restaurant in Exeter

Take a large group somewhere else! About a year ago a group of us went in for beverages and dinner - at about 9pm and we were told the kitchen could only make sandwiches. We left and went down the road where a staff member (who was friends with a member of our party) CALLED and said the kitchen was fully open and we should come back. WHAT?!?

Last night we celebrated a friend's birthday as well as seeing some service members and friends we have not seen in 6+ months. The woman (who turned out to be the General Manager) who seated us was not pleasant - no smile, no interest in my husband and myself. We were sat in the back (which was fine) near a couple who was finishing dinner. (The GENERAL MANAGER sat us)

As our party arrived (we had no reservations but it was not a busy Saturday and people were leaving - we planned to have drinks and food at about 830pm) we stood up and hugged and said hello but were told condescendingly to "sit down" and then shortly after were told that we should "go to the bar until the couple is finished eating."

The couple moved seats (by choice or perhaps it was offered) and because our large group (again, we were sat by the General Manager) was disappointed the people had relocated we offered to send drinks to them.

The GENERAL MANAGER said, "I think they are done drinking." So we had cash in hand ($100+ dollars) and offered to pay for their meal and the General Manager refused to take the money.

We EASILY spend over $300 dollars there on food and beverages at a time that was slower in the evening. The woman who was the General Manager, (blonde, late 40's, average height, cannot find her name ANYWHERE on the internet) was unprofessional and rude. It was absolutely pitiful.

The servers were friendly.

Take your large party to a place where they will be happy to accommodate you. Don't waste your money on this location. There are fantastic places within 5 miles of...

We recently have been ordering takeout due to the pandemic and always wanted to try this place. Staff is always friendly when I call to order or sometimes we order online. The wings are delicious!! I really love the garlic parmesan and my husband loves the Carolina Reaper! I got the chicken parmesan which was okay (could be better at the place) but I have had the fish and chips but with sweet potato fries which was delicious! I really loved the tarter sauce too which had a lot of relish in it. Their burgers are great too! I loved the texas burger with onion rings on the side! My husband loved the ghost pepper burger! Their regular french fries are good too! They definitely have a nice beer selection too which we have ordered some to go. It will definitely be nice to come to dine in this restaurant once this pandemic is over to get the full experience!! But as this continues, we will keep ordering...

Wanted to eat there cause every time we drove by, it was packed! Turned out to be a great decision. We went for lunch, a group of 4, on a Tuesday, and had no trouble getting seats at that time. I ordered Steak, husband ordered the chili & Fish & Chips (adding pics), guests both ordered baked Scrod. Everything was excellent, especially my steak, which I ordered well done. I have been known to send steaks back because I can't stand blood/pink in them! But this was perfect, AND not overdone/hard as a rock. A perfect well done steak. Got a drink as well, a Tripping Animals Limonada Rosada, and it was really good also. Our waiter was very nice and attentive, and it seemed the entire staff was friendly to everyone there. Husband said his Fish was very fresh and our guests loved their food as well. Overall, an excellent dining experience! Will eat...
