The Middle of Nowhere Diner — Restaurant in Exeter

My husband and I have been living around the area for a few years now , and have been looking for a new diner to go to . So when we went today wasn’t sure how it would be because it didn’t look like it would be the best place. We still went in and ate the food was great was very happy got our bill brought it up to the waitress to give her the money . So we walk out I get in the car my husband was standing there talking to some guys . Next thing I no the waitress is at my door use didn’t give me all the money so I say oh I’m so sorry my husbands right there he will take care of it she goes over to him you tried to stick me . so my husband says what do you mean 8 +8 =16 +4 tip so he continues what did I screw up she flips the receipt over and has other amounts wrote on the back so he says I’m so sorry I didn’t know you would write on the back considering everything we ordered you totaled up on the front anyways he starts getting the rest of the money for the bill and he isn’t finished and she says your not even going to give me a tip ? He says I’m not even done yet I’m still giving you a tip . Either way it was very embarrassing it was an honest mistake normally when you go some place and you get your receipt there is not a total on the front then a different one on the back just thought we found a new dinner for us but not now she was basically assuming we purposely did it and she was screaming in front of everyone you are trying to stiff me your trying to not pay the full bill etc . Would have gave 5 stars ⭐️ but the situation was not handeled appropriatly and I’m honestly so embarrassed I probably wouldn’t feel comfortable going back . I got a chicken parm and don't think I'll ever order one again. It was mainly sauce flavor. Nothing to catch my taste buds attention. However food came quick and ziti was cooked perfect !!! My son got blueberry waffles and banana pancakes which were phenomenal!!!!!!!!!! Minus the globs of butter..... Yum! everyone dug in on those! We can't wait to come here for a pure breakfast binge honestly !!!!! Gonna miss it when he eats all his food and I don't get an array 🤣 other gentleman we went with got fish and Chips he said it was amazing. He Is picky and wasn't a fan of the fried outside... anyone who ever orders fish and chips however I beileve would love it so cranky and crispy with the fish perfect. They did serve fries with the fish and chips but put then under the fish so they were soggy. The curly fries were immaculate. I would go there daily for those if I lived closer !!! Waitress was so nice. One thing I did wince about however was they gave my son a color book to use... it had coffee stains on the cover and most pages were used so he was not entertained. Good idea in general but need more selection and maybe smaller ones so they havnt been touched by dozens of icky sticky kids. After 27 years of riding back and forth to work by this place and always saying, ” I am going to stop there”! I was out on motorcycle Sunday 10/13 and ended up going by, and thought, perfect day for it! It’s a Sunday pretty busy go inside, super nice lady with long pony tail asks “ counter or a booth”? I am solo no hurry say counter. After 35 mins, (yeah no one was in a hurry) two people leave counter. So it’s funny I have a couple sitting next to me also waiting. I was going to say you take it because could see a single guy in front getting ready to leave. Two people come in, have not waited a minute while there were 30 people outside waiting, and short waitress with glasses says, “oh sure take these seats” to the whiney couple . Couple next to me and I laugh, guess she is not operating on same system as everyone one else who put their name and phone number in.
