Lucky Time — Restaurant in Fair Grove

First off, it was impossible to get my order, which was General Chicken made without the breading, vegetables instead of rice, with General sauce. Nope - she said no substitutions. The only difference was the steamed chicken instead of fried... & add veggies? I then asked for chicken with broccoli, no veggies, with General sauce (thinking I could outwit her), but no. They couldn't do that, so fine, I settled with their breaded General Chicken, no rice, add veggies. No again. I told her I'd be glad to pay extra for the veggies, but I didn't even want the rice on my plate. She finally agreed (for 99 cents extra), but told me the cook wouldn't put any General sauce on my veggies. Ok?

I told myself that would be my last trip there. The sauce was very watery. I eat Chinese food at Hong Kong Inn & Yum Yum Bowl in Springfield & they're more than happy to accommodate my needs. It would have been so easy for them to use the steamed chicken instead of breaded, no rice, pour on the general sauce, & add the veggies for...

Not much on atmosphere, but great cashew chicken! Went there on a rainy evening; first thing that caught my eye was a bucket in the middle of the floor catching drips from the leaking roof, then the peeling paint on the ceiling, and whoever did the last paint job should not be allowed near a paint brush again...ever. Most of the seats had the upholstery gone exposing the bare foam, and the floor should have been sanded and refinished years ago. But, the waitress was great, the food came with minimal wait, and the cashew chicken was as good as I have had anywhere! Very, very tender, a great flavor - could have used a tiny bit more sauce - but it really hit the spot! The egg roll was ok, (should have asked for some duck sauce), and the crab rangoons were pretty good. Prices were much less than you might pay almost anywhere else. So, if you're around Fair Grove and have a craving for some cashew chicken, it's a spot to consider...just might want to consider doing it...

Used to be great, when they answered the phone but I couldn't get an answer so I drove there since a friend said they were open. I was asked if I had a call in and my response was no one answers the phone so that would be impossible. The reply is well we're out of chicken. That was the reply I heard them give the last time a person 3 weeks ago when I got an order.
