Che'yla's Southern Cuisine — Restaurant in Fairfield

Starting with a positive, so the young girl working the front was very nice and professional as well as the young man at the to go counter. When you first walk in it honestly smells weird in there but I couldnt put my finger on what the smell was. The interior isnt anything special, nothing about the inside is welcoming or nice so to say, just average but hopefully that changes as time goes on. Food: I got the chicken plate and it was 25.99 and came with 2 sides, corn bread and 4 pieces of fried chicken, I chose mac n cheese and yams as my sides. The mac n cheese was running and not solid but it for sure needed some salt and pepper, the yams were cut weird but they were VERY good and I liked how think they were as a whole instead of watery! The chicken is what made me want my money back… The skin was dark as if it were cooked all the way but out of the 4 pieces only 1 was edible because when I bit into the 2nd drumstick the vein in the chicken was slimey, the same as one of the thighs, so I broke apart the other thigh and it was bloody inside so i’m guessing their grease was too hot. Honestly the food tasted the same as Chez Soul that was downtown.. I will try again in a few months when they have been open for longer and maybe have their cooking...

My wife and I went to the soft opening a few days ago and just as I expected, the food was delicious. I got the blackened basa, mac & cheese, and red beans & rice. The basa was seasoned to perfection and the sides complimented it very well. Another added bonus is the customer service we received. We were greeted with smiles and our cups stayed food. Che'yla's is easily my favorite restaurant. It truly feels like a family reunion back in Texas. I love this...

Me and my family went today well we are currently leaving as I write this review lol but I got the short ribs which I think comes with 4 or 5 short ribs it comes with 2 sides and a choice of bread the meat was VERY tender I had to use my HANDS to pick up the meat because it was so tender it would fall off the fork but overall great place to eat!
