A standard chain Mexican restaurant. Part of different brands, including El Torito, Acapulco, El Torito grill, Las Brisas and many more. XRG group owns them. I don't know, my opinion is really out on them. Need more experiences. We really like the El Torito restaurant in Monterey, ca. They have an outstanding Sunday brunch. The standard menu is about the same as Chevy's. Really my wife loves this place. The sweet corn is her favorite. Ehhhh. Lol. She always orders her standard chicken flautas. I guess you can't really ruin those, unless you over cook them. I ordered the super Cinco plate, which includes a chicken enchilada, ground beef taco, chilli relleno, pork tamales and beef enchilada. You have a choice of refried, black vegetarian, or ala Chara beans. I always order refried beans, but I am particular and highly critical about how they are prepared. Creamy boiled to perfection, I miss how the traditional preparation of the beans were done long ago. Of course that is not considered healthy anymore, but some restaurants cook in a manner that is close to that original recipe. I can still taste my neighbor's mother's cooking us lunch with warm tortillas over a gas grill, Mexican rice, pollo or beef asada,. Those were so delicious. For the most part, the food at Chevy's was ok. The best part of my meal was the chilli relleno, and the beef and chicken enchiladas. The chilli relleno was chessy but not too greasy. Also, it had a kick to it, even though it was just a pablono chilli. I love that. The enchiladas had good texture and ingredients with each bite, The plate included Mexican rice and refried beans, and a scoop of the sweet rice. Rice sticky in consistency, with additions of either brown sugar or some type of syrup. Chevy's is known for their home made tortillas cooked in a machine near the dining room. Chips are warm and the salsa is good, not too hot. We had ice tea and watermelon margaritas for drinks. I prefer the standard margarita In all ok, if you are traveling and you don't know the restaurant scene in that city

The food has always been the same, good in taste and you can expect what you read on the menu. Tonight, I dined in the cantina with my mom and aunt and the service was subpar. Our server, Maria Jo, was dismissive and not very hospitable. My food came out cold. As a server, I assume it was due to me ordering before the rest of the table. I did not ask for my food to be brought out as soon as it was ready nor for Maria Jo to bring it out as soon as it was ready but had the server taken initiative the food either wouldn’t have been sitting in the window to get cold. Maria Jo did not even ask how the food was tasting or if everything was okay prior to trying to upsell us on another margarita flight. I questioned I was the only one seeing black residue on my glass. Maria Jo dismissed my concern and stated it was black salt that is used on other drinks. I wiped off my glass and the napkin revealed there was residue from a prior drink as the drink I had did not use any black salt. This presented questions of the kitchens sanitary standards and practices. The music was low in the cantina. The host was quick, responsive and friendly.

This one is okay. There is a private parking lot and the restaurant is pretty clean. We were a party of 15 and they were able to accommodate us which was very nice. The food was ok. But I really do love their chips and salsa! It's a hit every time I come. Everyone almost ordered the same thing, the crab and shrimp enchilada with black beans and rice. But I ordered the steak and shrimp. I was highly disappointed. The steak was dry and my shrimp was a mix of baby shrimp and regular sized shrimp which wasn't supposed to be. It was as if they ran out of the regular sized one and tried to fill it with tiny shrimps. The service not bad. My friend who does not eat meat got a double serving of rice and no black beans. She didn't offer everyone a glass of water. But she was fast and very nice. The ambiance: it was festive inside, and clean. Nothing really to say about the ambiance or atmosphere. So overall experience was 3 stars only because a couple of the orders were said to be really good and they were able to accommodate our big party of 15. Atmosphere: *** Food: *** Service: *** Price: $$ ***

We went for Taco Tuesday last night and it was the worst experience. We arrived and got seated almost right away because I had reservations at 6:30 pm. Once seated it took about 15 min for someone to come over and get us chips and salsa and our drink order. Another 20-30 min for him to get our food order in. We ordered a few different plates and some apps and three of us got tacos. We went up to get our tacos served and everything is out in the open, and there is no one attending the food station at all. The food for 1 is out in the open while everyone is walking by it, breathing, coughing, throwing hair around and nothing is covered at all which is pretty nasty. We were in line for about 20 min before someone came over and asked us what kind of tacos we wanted. The lady serving the tacos was super sweet and I felt bad they are under staffed but you need to have a clean food area and food covered. She said they needed more meat and they were out of pico de gallo mix and the lettuce and cabbage mix for the tacos. So after waiting 20 min in line to get tacos she had to tell us she has to go to the back to make more pico de gallo and salad mix and get more meat. So we waited again about 15 more min. When she came out she served the tacos and we get to the table to eat one of the orders of a cheeseburger and fries had not came out yet. By this time we had ordered an hour prior. The waiter was very rude came by our table once and never came back. We stopped him to ask for silverware, napkins, drink refills, and where was the burger we ordered an hour ago. He was in a hurry and was walking off as we were telling him what we needed. 15 min later the burger came out and our food was cold and the taco carnita meat was soooooooooooo salty we didn't eat it. Everything was horrible from the food to the service. We will never go to...

Being loyal, regular patron at his location, I as reward member felt humiliated, discriminated by Kelani/ KALANI/KAOLINE( not sure of spelling as Oscar- manager spelled it for us in broken English) & her other female coworker waitress. 6/29/2024 we looked forward to enjoying the food, yet waited on table for over 10 minutes( Oscar insists its 2 minutes) for chips, water/ drink being served. Before chips is served , kelani , first asks about the order( not busy time, 70% open tables). Then repeatedly she will disappear and will not serve chips or spicy salsa until we are ready to order. Her coworker waiting our next table, states " I shall let your server know( std practice) but then asks, " what are you ordering", what do you normally order" etc emphasizing " trying to have a conversation" but not bring us chips or water, or our drink. When spicy SALSA requested, they made all kind of excuses which were a Lie as we never had issues before to get spicier salsa, just needed to request. I asked manager Oscar, so he himself serves us at my request to change waitress for our table. We could see Kelani and her other female coworker waitress laughing joking but will NOT come serve us/ our table. She Continues serve other Whites and completely ignored us before she was replaced. On final bill, they ignored to credit my Chip reward account for purchase and slaps us with " Surcharge" in addition to forcefully added gratuity . We do give tips, but this time NO TIP. Complaint has been filed with regional...
