I've been looking for a "real" bakery for a few years and I finally found one in Fairfield, Maine. Previous to this, we tried another local bakery and was totally disappointed.

Terrible fake, granular cream in their creme "horns" ( filling was sugar, not properly dissolved, water and oil..YUCK!) in their bakery goods, very small portions in a snazzy box., with a big price. No thanks.

I stopped by Hillmans on the way back from my vet today. What a pleasant surprise!! I bought 2 Lemon turnovers that were really good. Filling was great, pastry was very good also.

I also bought 2 creme puffs and 2 eclairs. WOW, just as I remember from childhood at my favorite Italian bakery in Philadelphia! The creme inside the creme puffs was generous and had a superb texture and flavor. The puff pastry was perfect. The eclairs were equally as delicious. I highly recommend Hillmans to anyone looking for old school, genuine...

I’ve always ordered cakes and treats from Hillman’s in the past, so thought of them when it came time to order my wedding cake. I went in on a Saturday around 1pm with my fiancé (as he works 6 days a week typically) so we could discuss what we wanted. The lady at the counter was very abrupt and told us the cake decorator was not there, so we need to come back when they were. Didn’t offer to take my information and have them call me or tell me when they would be there. Classic “not my job” moment. Cut to today, I go in when the decorator is supposed to be there- same woman waits on me- ask about ordering a cake again. She states the decorator is on vacation at that time. Now…. I just want a naked cake with no decorations- just a light- almost see through layer of frosting. Doesn’t matter, I suppose. Never again. I will make my own cake at this point- and not darken...
