This is hands down the best restaurant that has opened in Fairlee. My family and I have been summer residents in Fairlee for my entire life, and Broken Hearts is a godsend for some quick yet delicious take-out or dine-in that the town has been lacking. Most places in the past have had better luck in Bradford
To start, the origin is quite admirable. Opening during COVID was no easy feat, and the owner and staff stepped up and I am so happy they did.
Food: The food is incredible, nothing else NEEDS to be said, but I'm going to explain each thing I have gotten so far.
Burgers: The burgers I have gotten on a few occasions have been mouth-wateringly good. Cooked to absolute perfection, seasoned great, good cheese, and options. If you go for the double patty, skip breakfast because it is filling.
Chicken: As a spice-lover, the Nashville Hot style called my name and boy am I glad it did. The chicken itself is very meaty, you aren't getting all breading with this chicken, you get what you pay for here. The Nashville Rub was dry (which I prefer for Nashville style as it is more true to its roots) and it was the perfect balance of spicy and flavorful. If you are looking to change it up, grab the Nashville Hot Chicken Dog. It is amazing and the coleslaw is the perfect addition.
Fries: Some may think, "Fries are fries, what's the big deal?" WRONG. They again do a great job. The fries are nice and thin (personal preference but I love em'), they aren't greasy, and get an extra side of Jump Back sauce.
I still need to try the donuts & the philly cheesesteak. The donuts look awesome and hailing from the suburbs of Philadelphia, I'm always looking to try new places.
The online ordering and payment system they use is not optimal, but it works and I wouldn't hold that against the restaurant whatsoever. Truthfully, anyone looking to get some take-out from here should skip the online ordering, head inside, order your food and then grab a drink at the diner-bar. The beer selection may be small, but whoever here does the beer ordering, you know your stuff. Nice touch on the wallpaper in the bathroom too ;)
Keep up the great work, and I will be back here every single time I come up to visit (likely on more than one occasion). Also, I would have liked to add photos, but the food doesn't last long enough for me to take...
Read moreFood is pretty darn good, service was terrible both times I ordered to go, same when my son ordered takeout 3 or 4 times. On average it took an hour and 30 min to get the food.
Last time I went for takeout, server was stressed and taking it out on patrons, even though it was kitchen mistake for not cooking fries and missing the order. I told her I understood and not to worry, luckily I didn't have anyplace to be, yet she couldn't help but snap at me. I've never been snapped at like that from any server ever, truly bizarre, especially when I wasn't doing anything. They refunded the order and I gave most of the money back to the server. (yes even though she was pretty nasty to me) I worked as a server in my early 20's, its a stressful job, but you can't take out your stress on customers who are being friendly and patient. I like the food, but not impressed by the service, or the interaction between the kitchen and the server.
Perhaps we were just extremely unlucky? I'm willing to believe that once, maybe even twice, but between my son and I, we've ordered there over 5 times and it was the same loooooong wait time for food and unfriendly behavior. I get that it isn't fast food, but a burger and fries does not take over an hour to cook and why so angry? It's pretty funny when it's southern inspired cooking (they're known for their friendliness) but with a New England attitude (we are not known for being friendly). I was born and raised here but don't "look" like a local (I'm not white) perhaps that's the reason for the weirdness? You never know around here. I honestly don't know, I'm totally stumped at the strange unwelcome behavior. Bless your heart. I'll cook my southern bird dogs at home from now on.
Order about 2 hours ahead of when you want your food especially in the summer months. Don't know about winter, haven't been there in colder months. That last visit was plain terrible and I don't think I'll be able to return.
Weird looks from patrons, unfriendly staff, and ridiculous wait times, not a recipe for...
Read moreDidn't realize upon ordering that there is an imposed 17% gratuity, which is legal but extreamly tacky for a burger joint. This is not fine dining, therefore people should be able to decide what they feel is a fair tip or whether fast food warrants a tip at all especially if said food is for take out. Now that being said my husband went in to pick up our order and he's very cheery person and the woman at the counter was a complete snob to him and was unable to even provide us with utensils nor did they have any for us so we couldn't eat our food until we went and got some from a gas bar. Not my issue but I couldn't believe the way the owners handled themselves on here with other bad reviews or criticisms. Customers are not always right but you do not publicly attack people who leave poor reviews even if you take it personally and don't agree you should handle the situation in a more professional manner.
food, they didn't put gravy on our poutine, Tenders were fine but kinda sweated in the closed take out bag. Again didn't get any cutlery
Maybe they had good reviews in the past but it's really gone downhill and needs to work on thier attitude and how they conduct themselves with thier customers....
