Fellow Hibachi's! Sharpen your chopsticks because this is no slippery tuna roll. First off, I reserved a table per the online site's recommendation. My finance' and I went to check in and it was very clear there was some confusion on the reservation.. I'm not sure if they lost out reservation or overlooked it, because the hostess needed to go see if a table was available... probably too much saki intake. We were finally seated with a group of people who had been waiting to be seated for over an hour. We come to a table which had not been cleaned off. Our hostess went to figure out what was going on, and she came back with the remark, "I guess I'm hostessing AND bus-ing" She had us sit as she cleaned the table, throwing partially eaten fry-rye at us.. leaving heaping mounds of shrimp, beef, fry-rye and veggies on the table. We requested the soiled, bleached cloth to finish cleaning the table ourselves. She then offered to take our drink order.. my fiance' ordered sapporo, and the hostess replied "what's that?" You don't have to be Asian to know that's a japanese beer, but no judgment.. She then responded "I can't serve alcohol..." so she did not bring us anything and we waited for our server to finally come table side so we could drink. We then waited over an hour for our cook to come and make dinner.. the server's response for our wait was "he's out partying out back... I'm not sure what made him think he can take a break" Our cook came and did give us quite a show. No one caught the jumbo shrimp the first round, but second round was a success. The food was delicious, and the yum yum was yum yum. As our cook left, the hostess came back to our table area and started sweeping the table next to us and behind us (she was closing the tables like she wanted us out).. I understand cleanliness is key, but not while I'm eating. She then said something under her breath "I wouldn't eat here..." I asked, "excuse me?" "she said, "I know their secrets here..." in an ominous tone. our server came back and I asked what secrets do they have? our server responded "she's retarded... who would say that?" While this was happening, a bus-boy was also cleaning the table next to us, stepping all on the seats, flopping food all around (yes, food remained on the table as it was deemed CLEAN)
The whole time I was wondering "where the cameras? we must be on a TV show!" Fortunately, the people we were sat with equally felt confused, scared, and helpless during this Pearl Harbor part 2. The manager did comp our drinks, which we appreciated. Needless to say, I won't be going back... definitely not enough saki or lo mein for me to keep me coming.. AND I'M ASIAN!
