Fellow Hibachi's! Sharpen your chopsticks because this is no slippery tuna roll. First off, I reserved a table per the online site's recommendation. My finance' and I went to check in and it was very clear there was some confusion on the reservation.. I'm not sure if they lost out reservation or overlooked it, because the hostess needed to go see if a table was available... probably too much saki intake. We were finally seated with a group of people who had been waiting to be seated for over an hour. We come to a table which had not been cleaned off. Our hostess went to figure out what was going on, and she came back with the remark, "I guess I'm hostessing AND bus-ing" She had us sit as she cleaned the table, throwing partially eaten fry-rye at us.. leaving heaping mounds of shrimp, beef, fry-rye and veggies on the table. We requested the soiled, bleached cloth to finish cleaning the table ourselves. She then offered to take our drink order.. my fiance' ordered sapporo, and the hostess replied "what's that?" You don't have to be Asian to know that's a japanese beer, but no judgment.. She then responded "I can't serve alcohol..." so she did not bring us anything and we waited for our server to finally come table side so we could drink. We then waited over an hour for our cook to come and make dinner.. the server's response for our wait was "he's out partying out back... I'm not sure what made him think he can take a break" Our cook came and did give us quite a show. No one caught the jumbo shrimp the first round, but second round was a success. The food was delicious, and the yum yum was yum yum. As our cook left, the hostess came back to our table area and started sweeping the table next to us and behind us (she was closing the tables like she wanted us out).. I understand cleanliness is key, but not while I'm eating. She then said something under her breath "I wouldn't eat here..." I asked, "excuse me?" "she said, "I know their secrets here..." in an ominous tone. our server came back and I asked what secrets do they have? our server responded "she's retarded... who would say that?" While this was happening, a bus-boy was also cleaning the table next to us, stepping all on the seats, flopping food all around (yes, food remained on the table as it was deemed CLEAN) The whole time I was wondering "where the cameras? we must be on a TV show!" Fortunately, the people we were sat with equally felt confused, scared, and helpless during this Pearl Harbor part 2. The manager did comp our drinks, which we appreciated. Needless to say, I won't be going back... definitely not enough saki or lo mein for me to keep me coming.....
Read moreWe made reservations for 7 p.m. online and in them I disclosed that it was a celebration for our last night our before we got married. We were kept waiting at the front, even after we walked around for a few minutes looking for the hostess.
The service was TERRIBLE. We were kept waiting 15 minutes for water and a beer. We mainly went for sushi. We were told once we sat down and ordered drinks that the chef who cooks sushi only works certain days? So there half of the menu wasn't an option for us anymore. We chose alternative appetizers. Mine came out 20 minutes later, cold. My husbands came out after his meal was being served after having to remind our server because she forgot. I didn't even touch the salad. The only option for soup is onion soup.
The server dropped her pen that she was chewing on on my plate, picked it up, giggled, and continued talking. She was very unprofessional, sloppy.
We originally went to use a Groupon deal we had, but since it was a special night we ordered steak, lobster tail, scallops, shrimp and chicken. We decided to splurge a little and get our favorites.
My scallops were very under cooked. I received very little vegetables and a massive amount of noodles. The quality of the meat just was not what I would price at $30 a plate which is what we paid for it.
We ended up paying $95 for our dinner that I would pay maybe $15 for at a buffet. MAYBE.
Don't waste your time here, go to Samurai in Strongsville. We had a much better experience there, paid $65 out the door on half off sushi night and tried a variety. It was divine and the service was outstanding!
I still have that Groupon deal for $25 worth of food since we bought things out of the "criteria" on the Groupon deal and we couldn't use it. I am going to give it away. I won't be back. I am complaining to...
Read moreI am not one to write a bad review but I have never had an experience like I have with this place. They tell you to leave your reservation on the answering machine.. so I did. I called back at 5 to make sure they received it they told me they are really busy tonight and 7 o'clock is not avaliable. So I asked for earliest reservation and they gave me 8 oclock. I came in at 8 only to hear that my reservation is running 45 minutes behind! My group and I tried to make the best of it ordered a few drinks while we waited and listened to the manager act completely unprofessional when another employee said to her "there are customers who would like to speak to you", she replied " if they want to speak to the manager they can come to the bar, I don't have time for that". I was appalled!! We did not want to stay at that point but our options were limited because we had made plans for after dinner (that we ran late for). We were the only ones who tipped the chef at the table even though our portions were completely off compared than the people we sat with. I called to speak to a manager today about my experience and all I got was "okay... I heard your story, is that it?". That is exactly why I am leaving this review. I am absolutely livid right now. That is no way to run a business I wouldn't waste my time...
