Disappointing evening. Our 3rd time here, the first 2 were great. Came back again to bring my son for burger night. We found a table easily (still had dirty dishes on it from previous customers) but after about 5-8 minutes someone came by and grabbed those.. and then about 5 minutes later she wiped the table down.. and maybe 4 minutes later we got waters and menus...yes they were busy but was quite irritated that after another 8 to 10 minutes I had to flag her down and ask if we could place our order? She snapped at me, sure I'm just a little busy taking care of everyone but I'll be back to grab your order!!! After over 20 minutes of waiting just to place our order? She returned, sulking took our orders (all burgers) and left. 15 or so minutes later, our meals arrived along with a new attitude in our server. While my husband and son enjoyed their burgers, mine was barely medium rare (ordered well done) so I barely got down half of it due to how pink it was. (Husband and son don't mind pink so they ate the other part.) After my first 2 bites revealed how underdone it was, I wanted to mention it but, was genuinely nervous about flagging down the server and pointing out to her how pink it was when I ordered well done. When the meal was over and she cleared our plates, she apologized profusely and told us our dinner was on her, she felt bad about how she snapped at us earlier, overwhelmed, etc. We tried everything we could think of to get her to bring us the check so we could pay... but she refused. In the end all we could do was give her a generous tip.
Will we return? Quite likely. But.. The cooks need to remember what well done is for a burger, NO PINK. And servers.. I appreciate the difficult job you have and do every day. But please don't forget about some customer while you take care of...
Read moreHeard many great things about Fairview Tavern. Finally decided to try it. Ordered carry out. Portions are great size, no complaints there. I ordered the eggplant parmigiana entree. I quickly realized the eggplant was boxed frozen. They are all uniform in the same shape and size. The breading is a processed coating. Flash fried. When I pulled back the breading, I came to find out that the so-called eggplant, was actually green tomatoes. They are trying to pull off two items on their menu - fried green tomatoes and eggplant entree (and probably their eggplant sandwich) all made from these fried green tomatoes. Unbelievable! .... Updating my review. I took the “eggplant” back and they were very accommodating and gave me a full refund and agreed it was tomatoes. Said the cook must have grabbed the wrong box (aka processed and frozen). I came home to try my husband’s Cheesesteak Potato Skins. While they were delicious, underneath all the steak, mushrooms, onions and cheese, was a layer of bacon. No where one the menu does it say there is bacon on these particular potato skins. The cook clearly has no clue what their menu is. Very disappointed. Ladies working were very nice. Wish I knew how to add photos because I would include...
Read moreGot here at 12:20pm on a Saturday (today). They spent almost thirty minutes before they took our DRINK order. Then when we asked to put in our food order along with the drink order, we were then told we had to wait, and proceeded to wait an additional thirty minutes to order. We watched a couple come in, order food, eat food, box up, leave, and ANOTHER couple sat down before we even ordered drinks.
I’ve waited an HOUR after our food order for our food to come in. We tried to ask for the check a few moments after getting our food only to be told to wait, and then another 15-20 minutes before the waitress sauntered up with the check.
I understand being a party of eight at a small tavern could be a lot for some establishments. However we spent nearly three hours sitting around while the waitresses openly serving other people is atrocious. The food was alright, but don’t come here on a...
