Plaza Azteca Mexican Restaurant 52nd Ave — Restaurant in Fargo

Me and my kids came into plaza Azteca tonight for my sons 18th birthday, he wanted Mexican food so I knew we should try this place I heard great things about it recently so we got here and was very fast to sit down, me and my daughter had an emotional convo right before getting to the restaurant so we were both in tears, mind u the rest of our family was here as well, and when we came in they were so kind and pleasant, our server was Jose and omg did he do a great job!!! Most servers were wearing Christmas hat with lights (which we loved) including Jose, just want to say thank you Jose for such great service to us when we were a mess, u really did go above and beyond when it came to correcting my baby girls quesadilla, u were so kind to accommodate us by adding a table to a booth, so we could all eat together, we ordered drinks first which they take no time at all to get on it and service was so fast, chips came as soon as we were seated, it came with a silver cup of salsa and a silver cup of white sauce that tasted like the sauce from a cheesy Gordita crunch, but wayyyyyyyy much more delicious, we took awhile to order but only because we had to weigh out all great options lol, once we did place it, it was maybe 15 minutes later maybe not even that with all our plates (5 total with a baby). And got a dessert for birthday boy! Very worth it to go try this place out, steak chimichangas Texans ?? were so good omg! That steakkkk thooooooo👌👌👌 will be back for sure! I’ve been to plaza many times and overall enjoy the food when I visit. This last time I went for dinner on 8/17 I was overcharged on my bill and when I brought it up to my waiter he said it was apart of the system. I was in a party of 3 getting dinner and drinks and when we went to get our bill we were charged a large group fee and charged 20% gratuity. Which first off I didn’t know a group of 3 was considered a large group cause i’ve been with 4 or 5 people and never charged a large group fee. Secondly we were not told that the gratuity was already included in the bill so we tipped more assuming we didn’t tip at all. So they received a large tip from a party of 3 and also more money for not communicating that they already added the tip. When I brought this all up to my waiter he acted very confused and just said it was because of taxes and the system they had. Very weird and I won’t be going here again! The food was great but the service was just not good this time. There was a wait and we were told the patio was full, so was sat in a booth. Someone dropped off chips but didn't see a server for at least ten minutes for drinks or anything. We got drinks and guac made at our table which was very good. We were cold from the AC and really wanted to move to the patio so my friend went and looked and there was a ton of tables available but initially it was made to sound like we had to be sat out there but it was seat yourself. We closed out our tab in restaurant with a generous tip. Moved to the patio and didn't see a server again for like 20 minutes. Finally asked for one, he was not friendly. We got some queso with chorizo again very good but no additional chips, or napkins, and was never checked on again until hunting someone down for the bill. Just no smiles, no thank you.
