Upon entering for lunch, we were promptly greeted and immediately seated, as there were unoccupied tables aplenty. Whether due to it being a Saturday at noon with perfect lake weather, or people simply not knowing about this place, or bad food?? I can assure you, it was not the latter. Benny, our waiter, brought our menus. Having never been there before, we scoured the menu while munching on fresh chips and salsa. Meanwhile, they brought out a cart to make fresh guacamole which we (possibly regrettably) denied. Benny came back several minutes later and asked if we were ready to order, but we needed a little more time. He checked on us again after a few minutes. Although there was some slight confusion on the lunch menu, he was extremely patient walking us through the answers to our questions. I ended up getting the Pollo Ala Mexicana and my wife ordered the Grande Fajita Burrito. It wasn't long after that our food came out piping hot, looking like glistening plates of deliciousness! My wifes Grande Fajita Burrito was delectable! A huge Burrito stuffed with mouth watering Fajita seasoned grilled chicken, rice, sautéed onion and bell peppers, pico, and covered in queso blanco. Still though, I favored my meal. The refried beans, topped with a dash of melted cheese, were neither runny, nor a glob of glue. They were in the Goldilocks range. Just right. The rice was cooked to perfection, nice and fluffy. However, I was unprepared for the main attraction, the Pollo Ala Mexicana. I untucked my warm, soft tortillas from their tinfoil blanket and began filling them with the grilled chicken mixed with bacon, chopped onions, tomatoes, and jalapeños. I was worried the jalapeños would overtake the flavor profile, but that was not the case. It only amplified the zest of the other ingredients. This combination was so naughty that it had to be washboarded with chipotle queso blanco, only making the flavors scream louder! The first bite seduced my taste buds into a journey not often had. The grilled chicken, juicy and seasoned the way it deserves to be, was the star of the show. The bacon did not go unnoticed as it provided a salty, savory boost, adding to the carousel of flavors frolocking around my mouth. The grilled chicken, bacon, chopped onions, tomatoes, jalapeños, and queso was a perfectly portioned mix to ensure optimal flavor for every bite of pure delight! Even though it's a lunch menu item, it is more than enough for a full dinner as well. My only regret is not going to try Puerto Vallarta sooner. I cannot say enough about this place. Thee best Mexican food I've had...

You are ushered to your table by exuberant staff, upon sitting a delightful person wheels a cart up to your table and you are offered, stone ground, AT YOUR TABLE guacamole. Pistle to bowl. That's the journey. If you say there's fresher elsewhere, you're lying. It's 11 dollars but I beseech you let this run it's course. When they offer, smile and please and thank you, and watch magic get made.
Chips are delightfully crispy, without the ton of salt. If tequila is your game, then look no further than their bristling tequila list. From your bar pour to Casa Azul Cristilino. They have one to fit your taste. I personally had the Flescha Azul.
Wife had a chicken fajita burrito covered in a heavenly smooth queso Blanco. The chicken, delightfully tender, with vegetables fried to the perfection of crunchy fresh but yet reduced just enough. The Spanish rice deserves its own review to be honest, never have I found such a playfully, yes, playfully fluffy rice with such smooth and scintillating spice notes.
For myself, Camarones Ala Diabla! The Tiger shrimp were crunchy, fresh, and full of flavor. The Diabla sauce was robust, smokey, but not stupid spicy, which allowed for the smoked and dried chili's to punch through and wrap your mouth in a symphony of flavor.
For the finale, we had the Flan. Now heads up people, this IS NOT nor Tex Mex jiggly custard puck.... This is a handmade confection like you've never had in this setting. The texture like a stiffer horchata bread pudding with that delightful sweet sauce around it. Sometimes going just south of the border is enough. Sometimes you gotta go somewhere further. Puerto Vallarta.....where everything is as it should be....
Read moreMy wife heard about this place at work, we had to try it. We were setted right away. We had our choice of the restraunt or the bar. We chose the restraunt, our waiter was there for our drink order immediately. Followed by the chips and salsa. The chips were still warm and the salsa had a kick to it. Heat, but still flavorful. After taking in all the choices, I decided on the chicken chimichanga, and my wife had chicken burrito. We thought to portions were good, and they came with beans and rice. The red and white sauces poured over them were good. As imput both our orders had the same chicken, and were not seasoned in any way. And my chimichanga needed to be deepfried more. It should have a slightly crispy crust. A highlight of the meal was the margarita flight my wife had. 4 different flavors on the rocks, we preferred th mango. It had a excellent flavor. The prices of the flights were based on the brand of tequila in them. We should have got a cheaper brand. We are not experts on tequila. They have some pretty expensive choices, for the adventuresome. We will got back again, to try other...
