Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Farmington

I had gone to a Rita's down South a long time ago but I didn't know we had one around here. Today seemed like a good day to try it. We each got something different and I don't really know what we got. Mine was pina colada and had creamy stuff swirled on top with ice underneath. Delish! My friend had something else, maybe a custard, and she wanted another one it was so good. The only bad part is the location on a busy highway with lots of noise and traffic. We sat outside and it was so noisy that we couldn't hear each other talk. There were seats farther back but they were taken so we had no choice. It's also hard to get into with your car--I missed it the first time and had to go back, wait for the traffic, and try again. Wish they had a different location but the eating...

I had the most awkward experience here with the 2 girls working. I walk in and no greeting of any kind or eye contact, they don't walk up to the counter, nothing at all. I ask for a pint of custard. One girl says no, they don't do custard pints. Okay, no problem, I ask for a large. Neither girl says a word. The second girl makes it. I say thank you, no answer. I ask for a cover...nothing, not even a head nod. She turns around and goes to get one and puts it on the ice cream. I say thank you again for the cover and again no answer, they just stare. Horrible horrible customer service. I understand they are teenagers but manners are universal especially in the service industry. I went in last night to get a pint (since they don’t do quarts) of the custard twist and was told I had to get it from the already premade freezer. I had asked if they could give me a fresh pint (since there was no one else waiting in line) and was told ‘no the custard has to sit for a while before it’s served’ I’m sorry what?? Is that something that is disclosed to the customer when they get a cone? then on top of it all they just sat back down on their phones and pretended to be off the clock.
