Cahoot's Restaurant was built in the old county jail, and the steel bars and jail cell add a unique ambiance to this family owned restaurant. My wife remembered visiting there with her mother many years ago and since we were in the area and hungry, we decided to check it out. We got there about 5pm on a Tuesday, so there weren't many people there yet but by the time we finished our meal people were lining up to get in. This must be one of the local's hidden gems because the food was fantastic, and was served fast and piping hot. We had ribeye with fried shrimp with side salads and fries, and everything was great. Our waitress was friendly and told us that most of the staff were related to one another and she herself had worked there for almost 30 years. The big attraction of Cahoot's is the two dining areas actually built in old jail cells. The walls were covered in people's names so they either let customers sign their walls or the jail had a lot of prisoners! There is a bar there, though closed at the time we were there, but alcohol is served. Every the restrooms were clean and well stocked. Overall, a surprisingly wonderful experience. If you are in the Fayetteville area or are in the mood for a relaxing, scenic drive head on over to Cahoot's for a unique...
Read moreI went with a group. Service was good considering we had 28 (we had reservations) and only one server for everything (ordering, refills, handing out food etc...) Fried pickles very good. They had a heavier breading than I'm accustomed, but good flavor. I ordered Blackened catfish with mixed vegetables(pre-bagged &frozen). My vegetables were okay, needed salt&pepper. My blackened catfish was only grilled. She even said "here is your grilled catfish". I said I had the blackened, to which she said, "it's the blackened, they look the same". They do not at most restaurants. I'd hoped it might have been the Cajun, but it was just grilled. Good flavor& moist, but not what I ordered. A friend's Smothered chicken was covered with just a slice of cheese. (Said cheese sauce). Those that ordered steak burgers said very good and cooked correctly. Grilled chicken was dry, but the Babe chicken that was ordered was very good. The ribeye was tender that was ordered. Another friend ordered the fried catfish. Her filets were heavily breaded and crunchy. Said flavor was good. It was a...
Read moreI went on a date there. The hostess seemed stressed and didn't greet us pleasantly. We were unacknowledged for longer than felt appropriate. Had my date not suggested the place I would have left. I told the server that I had never been there. She made no recommendation, welcome or expression that a return would be hoped for. I understand the place has been there a while. It seemed steady so maybe they don't care if a new customer comes back. The fried mushrooms were good. Other than my date wanting to go back I can't say the experience was one to repeat. The food was served very close together. We were there close to closing. Maybe they were ready to go which is probably why no dessert was offered. I worked myself that day and was tired I know service can be a challenge. Though if they can't muster a pleasant greeting I'd rather spend money in a place that can at least appreciate...
