Update- weāve been back three times to get the oatmeal cookies. They are crazy good. The Whoopie pie, apple cobbler was pretty good. I didnāt like the bread pudding as it was more of cheesecake and not like traditional bread pudding. Fried green tomatoes are delicious, but I donāt like the finishing glaze or blue cheese under it. The cheese was too funky. I wouldāve preferred a different sauce and on the side instead of drizzled on or no sauce. The beef stroganoff was delicious and the noodles were unique and fresh tasting, but I wouldāve liked to have more meat in it. The sliced beef option had an interesting sauce on it that didnāt match with the beef. Wouldāve preferred and Au jus based sauce. Unique mashed potato dumpling and red cabbage were fine. Potato dumpling has bread in the center, I wouldāve enjoy a good traditional mashed potatoes instead. I know this is Greek style-so maybe thatās how they eat their mashed potatoes⦠The pecan grouper looked delicious and some other options on their menu as we plan to come back and try the other options . Great service, great atmosphere, great prices, fast service, clean establishment, great desserts, authentic food.
Iām upset. Why didnāt this place show up in Google maps! Iām not sure how we stumbled on this place but I was looking for something sweet and this popped up so we had to try it. A REAL BAKERY-Wow. Nothing like the everyday style dessert shops in the area, where the stuff is too sweet And a bunch of foolishness really. Jonesboro is a food desert-have to drive out the city for something goodā¦. My eyes were Going wild with all of the delicious looking desserts in that case. The lady before me ordered all of one I was wanting to try. Now I for sure have to come back lol. I ordered maybe five items even though I know I shouldnāt be eating this much. My first time, I always want to try a lot because it determines if Iāll come back. Great service. Extremely nice inside, I forgot where I was. Why was it empty, I asked myself. I saw a food menu that seemed to have everything good on it and I become more impressed. Been coming to the area two years and totally missed it. We could have been eating here. The lady even recommended other food places. Super nice.
Pecan pie- nice size/weight/look with good amount of filling/pecans. Itās better to break in half than bite through. Breaking it in half allows you to bite the middle. The breading has a homemade/original/with love kinda taste. After two bites I tasted chocolate and was thrown off. Iāll ask next time if thereās chocolate in the pecan pie. Wanted the Apple pie but lady in front of me cleared them all. I was hurt. lol
Carrot Cake-I donāt care for icing so I moved most of it off and just ate the bread. The bread was great, but of course with no icing it was a bit plain. I knew but had to try. The cool sandwich look is attractive.
German Chocolate Cake- Beautiful Cake. Delicious. I had some crunch in my cake but I thought it may be eggshell. This is def a fancy and tasty cake
Oatmeal Cookie-can you believe the oatmeal cookie was the best of the four. I donāt like oatmeal cookies that much but it looked great and there was only a couple left so you know itās good when thereās only a few left lol. It was something truly amazing about that cookie. Iāve been daydreaming of it. Daydreaming like Aretha. Please donāt change anything. Iāll order all you have like that lady did me lol.
We plan to go back and try the food and Iāll update the review. For now, 6-Star Desserts-Great Job City Cafe & Bakery.
Tried the pecan grouper. I like the fruit on top idea thatās cool and simple. The crust had flavor and crunch, but I think itās a little much crust for the size fish. I ate it all, but the thin fish could take a thinner coating. Red cabbage ok. Seasonal veggies were broccoli but I wish was greens or squash zucchini. Nothing...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy family and I spent over $130, plus a tip for a pick up order. We read the reviews that said this was "authentic German food," but we strongly disagree. I was born in Germany, as was one of my family members. As a military family, we did a total of 12 years in Germany. This is an OT authentic German food.
We ordered five dinner meals, and purchased about five different desserts. The schnitzel did not taste at all like German schnitzel, and the potato salad was not German potato salad as we were told. The brotchens were the only things that we liked. We got schnitzels, and the bratwurst combo, and out of all five of us, NOBODY liked the food. It was bland, and definitely is not authentic German cuisine.
When we Returned to the US from our last tour in Germany, we lived on a military base, and eventually moved off base once my parents retired. Me and three of my siblings, join the military, with two being stationed in Germany. While we lived on the military base, and after we moved to our own home off base, we still had access to real authentic German cuisine made by Germans, who came with their spouses to the US. THAT was authentic cuisine. As a matter, fact, my parents could cook, schnitzel, and German potato salad just like The food we enjoyed while in Germany, and food made by Germans, who had restaurants outside the military base. Our commissary had delicious brotchens, also made by German employees who worked in the bakery.
This also held true for Korean food. We had some of the most delicious Korean restaurants, often buffets with all you could eat, authentic Korean food made by Korean who came to the US with their spouses.
My church mentioned coming to this restaurant for an event we have coming up. Ironically, we had just had food from this restaurant, when I spoke up and told them we had just eaten here, and would not recommend it. Even the desserts looked good, but were also Not tasty at all. The sugar cookies with icing were so hard that it hurt a family members tooth. The white chocolate mousse cake was barely sweet, and the other pastries were equally disappointing.
If you want authentic German food, this is not the place to find it. Perhaps others don't know any better, or ordered something else, but we stand on the fact that five of us, all with different likes when it comes to food, agreed that this will be our first, and last trip. Our church also decided Not to use this restaurant for our upcoming event.
Unfortunately, reviews don't always reflect the reality of the services provided, or the quality of those services. The staff member at the front register was very kind. The lady working at the bakery was not as kind, or patient, although we spent a very large sum of money, and gave the young lady a tip Who simply took...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs a Chef graduate of Johnson & Wales University. Iām very picky. I found this hidden jewel by accident on Google. Everything was amazing. The decor, taste, customer service, cleanliness, food selection and price. It was certainly a five star experience for a small price. I canāt wait to return and try their dinner. This is definitely my new get away spot. Rating 10/10 š¤©š¤©š¤©š¤©š¤© I tried the Eggs Benedict Smoked Salmon Bourbon Southern French Toast, Crab Cake with Mustard Remoulade with Roasted Potatoes, Key Lime Pie Petit four, Fruit Petit, White Chocolate Petit Four, and a Miniature Chocolate Dome dessert, Mimosa
Day 2 live videos found on my instagram Posted @withregram ⢠@my_recipes_for_success Rating 10/10 š¤©š¤©š¤©š¤©š¤© I went back again for breakfast. The food at City Cafe was delicious I wanted to try something new. I tried the Southern Shrimp N Fried Grit Cake. The sauce will make you slap somebody. This wasnāt your ordinary shrimp n grits. They took it up a notch. Extremely classy! I never had fried grits, very tasty. I also orders the BLT made with avocado, arugula and fresh cherry tomatoes. Not to forget I grabbed some more mini pastries from their on-site bakery. I still canāt believe they were $1.50 each. I goggled it all down with another Mimosa. The service was top notch as yesterday. The server, the staff and owner are always extremely polite. The owner saw me taking videos and photos, then told my server my meal was free. I think I just started another business on today!š±š±š±ššš ~ Billionaire Definitely a place to visit in Atlanta. Itās about 45 mins from downtown.

Everything was amazing just as breakfast. My only issue was the slow service and short staffed servers. They had a large party, making the wait and lack of attention fairly long. Overall the Shrimp N Grits is a must try! OMGā¦. that sauce is delicious. The black forest cake was very moist and had great flavor. The presentation was beautiful. I also grabbed a few mini pastries to take home. Not to mention you must try the Affentale Riseling from Germany. Your taste buds will be so happy you tried the combination. This is certainly my new hot spot in Atlanta. #placestoeatinatlanta #foodie#foodporn #chef #foodie#placestoeatinfayetteville...
