I had a really rough day, so I went to the Twisted Taco for appetizer and a cocktail. I ate a bite of the appetizer and a sip or two of the cocktail until I realize people are leaving in their cars drunk.
Tonight, Lieutenant Jennings of the Fayetteville Police Department shows up at the Twisted Taco in Fayetteville (GA) after I called 911, because the third person who went into their vehicle, acting drunk, annoyed me. I thought someone was gonna come out and take care of the situation until I realized nobody was taking care of anything!
Why is the restaurant letting people acting out of their establishment into their cars acting drunk? This man left without paying his bill, and they were chasing him down more interested in him paying his bill than him getting home safely.
This man in particular was belligerent & was there from the morning, until now even interacting with other customers who are minding their own business according to my 21-yr old server Rose. She tells me that it is 21-year old Tyler, the manager, whose call it is to let people in their vehicles as well as the bartender's.
Seems that this is true ! According to Lieutenant Jennings the bartender and manager have no liability! Lieutenant Jennings does not acknowledge the Dram Law, which is probably only for social parties, and it seems like bartenders and restaurants are negligent free in his purview because they were all acting drunk right then & there with the intention of driving home.
In addition, Lieutenant Jennings did not want to know the name of the person who left acting drunk in his vehicle when my server had it, and he didn't want to stick around for anyone leaving from the bar who may have been belligerent and acting drunk after sitting at the bar being served & getting in their cars. He said it's not his responsibility. Then he drove off.
Before he left, though he just looked at me kind of sideways like why didn't I do something or call sooner or what's wrong with me. I wish he would have got the name of the man who drove off acting drunk. My server had it! The lieutenant didn't want it. I couldn't believe it!
When I paid my bill, I noticed I was being followed. Then I realized I was followed by another police officer almost home until I turned. Weird & Interesting. I felt like I was a suspect chasing me down when I didn't do anything and it's the Twisted Taco allowing people to drive home acting drunk. What kind of backwards situation is this?
I'm not fond of this particular Lieutenant or the restaurant anymore now. Who...

Editing my review, if belatedly. These guys have done a fantastic job of taking thoughts and advice of their regulars and that of well thought out customers and have turned TT into a better experience than before. Great staff, food is phenomenal [chicken tortilla soup still needs a lot of work but that's it] and has always been a positive experience.
The music blends perfectly between what you'd expect from a homey Mexican restaurant to the lively vibe of texmex that TT was known for [at least to me].
Thank you guys for all your hard work making twisted taco an amazing eat in Fayetteville.
END EDIT BELOW IS THE ORIGINAL REVIEW
I've been eating at twisted taco for a long time. About ten years if not more. It's had its ups and downs and plenty of changes along the way.
Recently it came under new ownership/ management. I've met at least one of them and they were pleasant and welcoming; they expressed wanting input from the various regulars and seemed very open to input.
Like with any big change like this in a restaurant, menu changes came with it. Nothing extreme. The addition of carnitas and enchilada have proven interesting.
Another big change, one that I feel damages the feel of what I was used to and enjoyed was the varied music. Now it's nothing but what I'd expect to hear in a stereotypical Mexican restaurant instead of the texmex TT had been for ages.
On to food:
Prices on menu still feel fair for what is described. However, portioning is horribly skewed. I have ordered the new choriqueso twice now on separate visits and both times the amount of chorizo amounted to a teaspoon worth. $3 more for a teaspoon of chorizo.
Now, upon querying my server they were able to get a reasonable amount in a side dish to mix in without extra charge [about 2-3oz~ at a guess] which looked much better. The fact this occurred on separate occasions leaves me to believe it's the intended result, though.
I've had mixed results on other menu items. The carnitas enchilada were great, as is the new twisted dip. Hit and miss on the burrito[bowl]. Burger cooked right but the top of the bun burned.
If anything, currently, I'm disappointed. Things aren't horrible, but there's a lot that leaves visits very off and wanting. All of the staff, however, have...
Read moreIf I could give negative stars I would! This was my first time here at Twisted Taco and unfortunately I will never patronize this place again! Ashley was our server & she was attentive and I had no issues with her services. I ordered the southwest chicken rolls which were ok should have been hot since they were fried but they were just warm. I also ordered the three amigos fajitas. The steak came out bloody not cooked to my liking. The blood juice was running out the steak 🤮! I had to send it back so they could cook it some more! The shrimp were very small & looked like salad shrimp, quite the disappointment. I've never had shrimp that small as apart of fajitas. The chicken was bland no seasoning. The refried beans definitely tasted like they came out of a can they were bland as well. In the middle of me trying to eat the food, it started to taste funny. My stomach started to turn, my mouth started to watered with a sick feeling. I asked where the restrooms where & luckily I made it to the stall! Everything that I ate catapulted all over the toilet! One of the workers that was in the restrooms gave me a wet paper towel to help me! I went back to the table and although Ashley checked on me I told her something was wrong with the food. I asked if the fajitas can be taken off and I would pay for the remaining items on the ticket. She gets the GM Kaitlyn & she tells me they have no way of knowing if it was the food & she's not taking it off mind you there is almost a full plate of food on the table! They would rather have a negative review than to satisfy the customer after receiving bad food! The owner Allen apparently is the one who told the GM Kaitlyn to decline taking the $23.99 fajitas off the ticket! I paid as you can see in the photo with the receipt but I definitely was coming up here to give this negative review about my experience! You can also see how much food was left on the table! This was unacceptable and should have been handled...
