Looking at the previous reviews I had some expectations regarding this restaurant. My 2 friends and I were greeted by the older waiter immediately so things were looking up from the beginning. We sat at the end corner and placed our drink orders. In terms of interior decorations and atmosphere thereās really nothing to write home about, it was quite mediocre. I ordered kalbi as my entree as did my one friend and the other ordered bulgogi. As a native Korean, all I can say is that the kalbi and bulgogi is nothing special and is a far cry from what an authentic dish actually tastes like. They compensated the poor taste with large portions of rice, but the theme of this place is that itās mediocre. The kalbi was not enough of a portion size so I ordered a sashimi appetizer to go along with my entree. It was a 9 pieces (tuna, salmon, white tuna). The presentation was ok, but immediately the color of the fish were off. (I wished I had taken some pictures, but the horrific taste was something I did not wanted to be reminded of) the salmon was greyish with brown spots, the tuna was grey pinkish, not the typical bright red tuna color we normally associate tuna with, and the white tuna was just mediocre. I figured it possibly couldnāt taste as bad as it looked, but I was wrong. It was slimy and just did not taste good at all. I only tried once of each to make sure I wasnāt being bias, but all the sashimi was absolutely terrible. I notified our waiter, but after he discussed it with the chef he came back and told me that it was fresh. (Again I wish I had pictures) I was absolutely shocked that they could claim that the sashimi they gave me was fresh. If for some crazy reason it was fresh, they obviously didnāt address the fact that it did not taste good and just tasted off. I told both waiters that it wasnāt fresh and tasted off, but they were just adamant that it was fresh. Canāt argue with delusional people, I just paid and left, but definitely do not recommend this place. Korean is mediocre and sushi/sashimi is terrible. Service is terrible...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe ordered teriyaki chicken, shrimp and Chicken, California Rolls, Soup, and Chicken wings. The sauce on the wings saved the wings because they have a tendency to overcook the chicken. Not to say the chicken was bad but dry. I am not a fan of rice if they had not brought so much of it, I would not have tried it. I am glad that I did though! The Shrimp was amazing I wish they had just a shrimp plate it was that good! Overall the food is amazing just need to put the fire down on the chicken so the meat does not dry out. The winds were not dry. Not sure how they pulled that off because the skin looked like it was cooked on the same heat as the rest of the chicken we ate.
We dined in. The service at the start was not great. We had never eaten there before and had questions about the menu. I looked directly at the staff three times as they were waiting on others and they did not come and check on me. They finally did check on me and got my questions answered.
Overall, the food is GREAT! I am not a lover of rice but I would go back just for the rice. When you order through the portions are meant to be shared except on the Single section of the menu. You can easily overorder if you don't know that and get a pricey ticket. No compliance here though. I found myself eating the rice for breakfast and enjoyed every bit of it the second time around. The best was the Shrimp and rice, wings, California Rolls and soup!!! WILL...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent here with some coworkers for pick up on Friday. The first sign that greeted us was to wear our masks for service and inside there was plenty of signs of them adhering to the social distancing recommendations. There was a table between us ordering and the counter; and all of the staff were wearing masks. Sapporo has menus that can be easily wiped down between customers. I ordered the Hibachi shrimp with a salmon rice roll. They both were okay. Specifically the Hibachi shrimp left a lot to be desired. It lacked a lot of flavor, it really could've used more garlic, spices, and less salt; it was not anything really special.
Also, they charged a lot for so little, particularly extra vegetables that were non existant--my bill came to over $23 and I was hungry a couple of hours later. My coworkers felt the same as they've had wayyy better Hibachi.
Also, the customer service was not the best as we were rudely told to wait outside and any time we asked about our order it was communicated back to us with roughness and attitude. The attitude and anger between the two ladies that took our orders was definitely felt; not something I want to...
