After what i experienced tonight, I believe I'm being quite generous with two stars! I have patronized this restaurant on several occasions, while I believed to find the food "OK" my boyfriend thought otherwise so we continued to go. Tonight I decided to get the meatloaf, that I have inquired about the last two times that I went but they didn't have it, So you could only imagine the level of excitement I had to find out that it was actually on the menu today. We ordered for take out as we usually do and got to the house only to realize that not only was the meatloaf but the macaroni was saturated in grease! The meatloaf had absolutely no formation at all and resembled Alpo dog food! I decided to grab my keys and go back to FLAVORS. I patiently waited as the owner flirted while he checked out the lady's in front of me. I approached the counter while he got an order that was up for other patrons and I started to look at the menu to see if there was something else I would have been interested in trying. He then came back to the register and asked how he could help me. I explained to him quietly and calmly, (because there were other patrons in the establishment and I did not want to sway anyone's opinion about the place) while opening the plate, about all the grease that was in the food. I then told him that I could not eat that and he says to me that it looks as if the plate was turned over. I further explained to him even if that was the case the amount of grease is unacceptable. (My burger from Wendy's had way less grease than this whole plate!)He then says with a unsolicited attitude "Well what, you want your money back?" Extremely irritated I had a moment of silence and told him you know what yes I do! SWEET BABY JESUS I CAN NOT MAKE THIS UP!!! He then decides to pick an argument with me after I told him that I actually was going to see if I could order something else but his attitude and lack of customer service ruined that. This guy commenced to telling me, while standing behind the register not reaching in to get my money back, that I can have my money back and I don't ever have to come there again! š At this point me and him are going back and forward and everyone in the kitchen comes up front. I assured him that I would not come back and that I was going to make it my business to leave him a review! He told me that I didn't need to leave one, and now after actually seeing the reviews on this place I see why!!! I decided to leave the plate with him since he felt that it was so acceptable to serve. Save your time, money, and cholesterol! Find somewhere...

(Long post but it's worth the read)
Ordered smothered chicken, mac n' cheese, and green beans. After waiting for 15 minutes (which was expected), I received my food. Thank goodness I checked my plate when I got to the car because I received smothered PORK CHOP! (which is NOT what I ordered). When I went back to show them their error, the young lady apologized and said it would be about 10-15 minutes for the smothered chicken. Instead of waiting again, I decided to keep the pork (which i don't eat, i just didn't want to wait again. But now... Thinking back, i just should've asked for a refund). Anyway, there I was, leaving again, with what I now know is pork chops. As I reached the door, she says "Ma'am, the chicken is coming up." Cool... I can actually get what I actually ordered. Well guess what, I ended up waiting another 13 minutes. This is the kicker though... I was sitting in a position to see the back side. The cook takes the box to the MICROWAVE (I'm assuming to warm the green beans and mac n' cheese) and they actually gave me the meal. I could see the styrofoam box had crinkled from the microwave rays (you guys know what that looks like). Then the guy had the nerve to offer me cake. I had already purchased two pieces in my original order...so no... i didn't want cake.
Okay.... let's talk food. It was NASTY! And I'm being honest. It wasn't because of the mixup earlier.... it's simply not American soul food. Let's break it down...
Smothered Chicken: Turns out its fried chicken with gravy poured on. The chicken was NOT done in the middle. Hard to pull from bone. The gravy had an odd taste. And the rice.... well, the nasty gravy messed that up.
Mac n' Cheese: Not sure what type of cheese they used. Too stiff and greasy... did I say GREASY!
Green Beans: Not seasoned. Definitely from a can. I just added a little salt and pepper to my liking and that's all I ate from the plate!
Cornbread: I tasted it but can't give a fair assessment because I'm not a fan of cornbread. So no review on that.
Cake: I didn't have the cake. I'm waiting on my husband to tell me how the red velvet cake was. Now he's a red velvet connoisseur! He knows a good/subpar/bad cake. We'll see.
FINAL REVIEW: Will I go back again, definitely NOT!
Will I recommend them to anyone, ABSOLUTELY NOT!!
(By the way: Maybe if the cooks in the back can stop running their loud mouth long enough, perhaps they could get my order right...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLet me start on the plus side of this review. The initial customer service person was very pleasant, nice and polite (NO MASK) however he was behind the plexiglas. The menu needed to have better print and in color. After a review of the menu there was just so many choices. I narrowed it down I had the Pork Chop dinner with mac & cheese, and fried okra, which was AMAZING. I also had a side of OX tails with rice. The OX tails were tender however the gravy was pasty & the rice was cheap quality. I would NOT recommend that dish to anyone. My guest had friend oysters, mac & cheese, coleslaw. The oysters were NOT the freshest of the fresh. However the coleslaw was sweet, slight crunch and nice and creamy. Cornbread was served with both meals. Its NOT even worth getting.
I gave FLAVORS a 3 star because the food was hit or miss, but it has potential.
A few things I observed while there that troubled me was HARDLY NO ONE WORKING THERE WORE A MASK
It was A LOT of people moving throughout the resturant from the kitchen & behind the counter.
A young teenage carrying a video game controller was back and forth from the side dining room & was allow behind the service counter to retrieve an item.
A group ladies left the restaurant and went across the street to the dollar general and returned and went directly to and through, one female came out on another side.
The wait for our food was approximately 20 to 25 minutes. During that time a gentleman came from the kitchen (NO MASK) and spoke to us & a UNATTENDED BABY sitting in a booth in a car seat. He NOT spoke to the baby we would have never known to child was even there. At one point the baby begin to cry & the young boy motioned to attend to the child and the elder lady said. "IT AIN'T GONNA HURT HIM TO CRY" a few minutes later a young lady come from the kitchen to care for the baby and took him to the side dining room.
At one point in food preparation a female from the kitchen retrieved the container of sour cream from the table in which a public customer used, she took it to the kitchen to prepare others food.
My over all thoughts are the kitchen area was a little to busy with individuals who were NOT essential.
I'd say the family owned FLAVORS needs some do's & don'ts of resturant etiquette or it will be know as THE FLAVORS kitchen in &...
