Driving up is a fairly bland impression. But once you park and walk around to the front, everything falls into place. Beautiful setting next to water (with waterfowl), loads of outside tables, and an inviting staff ready to show off the beer. Ten or so beers arranged this day into Easy Drinkers, Hoppy, and Sour (I believe we were told it's a 20 barrel system), from light lager and cream ale through several hazies and a couple of clear IPAs, and of course the ubiquitous hard seltzers. I was pleasantly surprised by the tasty rhubarb sour - I tend to avoid kettle sours, as they bore me, but this was well-made. We had similarly nice things to say about the ZZ Hop and Star Island "American IPA" beers, and they even nailed the Cream Ale.
The weather was not the best, so we had most of the room to ourselves with the bartender, who, with one of the owners, showed us great hospitality and even got into the weeds with us getting a bit beer-nerdy. Absolutely well worth...
Read moreVery cool taproom in a great spot on the downtown river front! Staff was friendly, crowd was lively. Seating had a nice balance of high-top, low-top and barstools.
A few suggestions that would've improved.my experience:
A bit snug and maybe the addition of a few acoustic panels to make conversation easier and remove one or two more tables when having a band set-up.
Staff was super friendly, however not really knowledgeable on the brews or proficient with the taps. Nothing some more training can't fix :-)
Beers were average at best and lacked diversity. December in MN always requires a stout and porter on tap nowadays.
I think quality of brews will come around with time. I'll keep stopping in to see what happens and will update my rating accordingly :-)
Hope this joint tastes success...it's a great addition to the city and downtown...
Read moreThis is a wonderful brewery to visit. You'll notice when walking in everyone is smiling and enjoying the brew, company, music and atmosphere they have created. It has ample indoor and outdoor seating with a beautiful view of the mighty Ottertail River. They have shandies, seltzers and ales that are refreshing in the hot summer days, also they offer some lagers, stouts, and other fun things seasonals and whatnots to try. There is often a food truck or they also offer pizza when you get the munchies. This place is inviting to people of all ages and would recommend a stop by for a quick one or meet up with friends or make new ones over a fun evening. Live music scheduled on the board on the weekends. Don't forgot to bring...
