I was so excited about the new ownership and was quite pleased the first time I patronized them. I’ve live part time in Fife Lake and they have revolving owners on a regular. Never “loved” going there. The food wasn’t ever great. It was a Saturday night, there was live music! and the new decor was amazing. The new menu was fantastic! I was very happy! I met the new owner and she was delightful…. Our waitress was a 10 out of 10. I thought, no more driving a half hour to find a good meal! Yay! The next 3 meals couldn’t be more different…. I ordered their Italian style submarine sandwich with their hand cut fries. I asked for a crunchy bun. Came out perfectly crunchy, a bit burnt, but I like burnt toast, no biggie. For the price, the sub was lacking in contents and flavor, the fries were cool… Next was their Reuben sandwich, my favorite Sammy, not here! My first bite into their thick slab of corn beef (not a fan, I like lots of thinly sliced meat) was a huge hunk of fat! My sandwich had so much fat on it, I’d say, 1/4 of the meat was fat. Not a fan, won’t order that again… yuck! Yesterday we tried it again, I was so hungry I could’ve ate a horse! I ordered their half chicken, side salad had rotten lettuce in it, they served the chicken and it was pathetic looking. Skin was soft, white, and looked boiled. The cucumber salad as the side was not in a bowl, it was on the plate with all the juices running all over my already soppy chicken. I asked the waitress what’s up with this chicken? Don’t they brown up the skin? She told me they do it in the “alto” I have no idea what that is, but if it was my restaurant, I’d stop cooking the chicken in it! There was nothing special about my 20$ very small, white, boiled icky skin chicken. I pulled all the skin off and ate most of it… I was so hungry! It tastes just like the chicken I poach for salads, except no flavor. The cucumber and tomato salad was old, soft, and not tasty at all!!! I’d like to tell the owner herself… she wasn’t there, I believe if she were, she would’ve had a talk with the staff…. At least I’d hope she would. This is only half the story, my boyfriend who had celiac disease is a whole different animal. Needless to say, we will be driving at least half an hour or so to eat out once again… I had such high hopes for these new owners. The thing is, a new owner needs to be there, on their staffs every move, until their staff gets it right. So far, they lost...
Read moreWe arrived and thought it would be great, especially since I was getting the “best fish fry in the north” walleye and my wife was getting the “best fish fry in the north” bluegill. Needless to say, the food was terrible when we finally got it.
My wife had two beers before our food even arrived and she had to ask when it was going to be out. Our food arrived missing multiple items, the fries were cold and dark brown (like they had been using week old grease) and not crisp at all. They were terribly dry and some of the worst I’ve ever had - fast food was better! The walleye and bluegill were not crispy at all and seemed like they were microwaved, not even hot, just semi-warm.
The cook and waitress had no clue about food allergies like eggs (which I’m allergic to). They told me that the only thing I could not have was the corn bread after I had informed them of my allergy. They offered me a salad instead of the corn bread with ranch dressing, which has eggs in it. When my plain salad arrived 45 minutes later, it was spinach because they had run out of lettuce! They brought me tartar sauce and coleslaw, which both have eggs in them. The salad that was offered to me in place of the corn bread was a $3 upcharge and they didn’t tell me that until the bill came. My wife said that the corn bread was dry and some of the worst she had ever had, so I didn’t miss out on much.
The service was poor and so was the food. In the end we paid $76 for one of the smallest walleye fillets I’ve ever seen, three small perch fillets, and three beers which were $6.50 each. Sad to say but we will never be...
Read moreCame here for a family event. We were meeting a party of six and we had a party of eight. The restaurant was not overly busy. When we sat down there may have been nine or ten tables. Our drink order was taken right away. Then it took 10 minutes to bring them. Twenty minutes after our drinks came we ordered food. The table of six had ordered before us and was eating before our order was taken. After we ordered food we waited, and waited and waited.... then waited some more. After a hour and forty five minutes our food was still not up. When it came it was cold. I am not talking warm just too cold to eat. I am talking was cold like it sat out for a hour. We ordered nothing complicated just the fish and chips and two people got a pasta dish. By the time everyone got there food they were too upset to eat so we all got to go boxes. When we complained they seemed to really not care. Do yourself a huge favor if you go there to drink bring a book sit outside and enjoy the day, the entire day. If you go to eat bring some snacks and a hobby like tying flies and then catching your own fish, build a scale model of the restaurant, write a screen play, or figure out world peace. You can do it all before your food will ever get to your table.
NEVER GOING BACK HERE AGAIN WORST...
