THIS PLACE NEVER FAILS!!!! I returned to Orangeland yesterday with my best friends from undergrad as we were celebrating Homecoming. It's in a new spot so we initially had our doubts.
It is a standalone restaurant with what seemed to be decent parking. I only saw the front of the building so I'm unsure what's behind it. However, we were able to pull directly into a parking space in front of the building with ease. The lot is clean and there is no loitering outside. I always appreciate that.
Inside is VERY CLEAN and spacious. All the above is different from the time I frequented the place as a college student. There are 3 registers. Initially only one was open. However, they quickly opened the remaining 2 to accommodate the influx of customers. That was NICE as hour time was somewhat limited. You seat yourself. The chairs, tables, and floor were clean. The atmosphere was pleasant.
Now, our WAITSTAFF, Michelle... was AMAZING. She managed the entire dining area. She presented as the sweetest, most helpful, and most patient person ever. She was accommodating to our every request promptly. She held a brief conversation and shared some inspiration with us as well. If nothing more, her interactions alone made this trip a phenomenal one.
Lastly...the food. YES YES YES!!!! It was just as tasty as I remembered. The prices are reasonable as it is a seafood restaurant. The portions were huge for the price. Unfortunately, I was so excited, I forgot to take pictures. 🤦🏾♀️ I planned to go back today but they're closed on Sunday. Guess that just means I'll have to come back sooner than next to "get pics" to share a better experience with everyone. Who am I kidding? I'll be back sooner FOR THE FOOD!!! If you're ever in...
Read moreI give this 3 stars only because they are a seafood place with limited seafood. I wasn't particularly fond of the buffet it just didnt seem like a lot of options... At least when we went... We didn't see much... I was able to go to the back to check out fresh fish and seafood options... It was very small of choices... I guess they sell what they have... Or what the locals want and are use to... Since living in Florence I've been looking for stone crab and conch... And when I ask around they tell me Orangeland is the place to go... Well they never have it and can't even get it in... Tear drop... Then I have to settle. I must say the workers in the back is always helpful and friendly... Those guys work hard... As I was asking for the stone crab, having a complete meltdown because my recipe won't be the same for my guess coming in and telling him where I was from carried it and its further from Sc, they knew I was desperately in need but those slick buggers talked me into buying another kind of crab... I appreciate their kind words... When your really craving something ... You set your taste buds on it... Great customer service skills can make your customers feel at ease and they'd usually buy the next best thing if they are respectful... I purchased the next best thing... They also have seasonal blue crab I use to go get... I give this place 3 stars because the staff is so friendly & down to earth... I kept 2 stars because I can never get what I want because its...
Read moreThis once was one of my favorite seafood places, you can pick your own fish if you choose normally the fish is fresh, but not this time the fish was of poor quality and choices were fewer, we were a party of 3 we each ordered check a board flounder the flounder tasted like stale fish it was bad I got my order first so when I tasted it I wasn't sure of what I was tasting so I hesitated until the other orders were served and yes the fish tasted bad it had a stange foul odor as well, so we told the waitress who was very nice she called the manager and he was polite about the situation and offered us the black bass well I remembered the black bass as being the only fresh looking fish on the bar besides the flounder so we agreed to have it so now we ate our sides first because we were hungry the fish finally came out which was ok not great as we were used to at this place when asked about any type of compensation because we were served black bass at flounder price so we paid around $30 each per flounder which ended up a black bass the manager refused us of a refund asked did we enjoyed our meal I told him it was not what I expected he told us to have a nice day so we left something has changed in the quality of the seafood and I'm not sure that I will ever trust it enough to see if it's a permanent change the place was not nearly as crowded as it used to be and things seemed different very few cars and...
