My mom and myself are traveling and this was very close to the hotel we are staying. When we arrived the hostess promptly seated us, but we waited about 30 minutes and still no wait person had come to acknowledge us, the very least, nor offer drinks, an appetizer, nothing. No one had come to attend to us in any way shape or form. They casually walked past us as though we were not there.
Frustrated, tired, hungry and thirsty, I went to the bar to get a drink while we waited endlessly. The young lady bartender told me she wasn’t making me a drink I’d have to wait for a server. Guess she doesn’t rely on tips, because the attitude and tone she displayed certainly won’t earn her any. After her rude remark, we got up to leave and the manager, Eric, stopped us at the door.
He convinced us to stay, which wasn’t difficult after a long day of traveling. I had my heart set on a good steak and we certainly did not feel like going anywhere else. Based on the assumption this would be like my local Ruby Tuesday in NC and it’s outstanding food and service, we stayed. My bad.
Eric personally took care of us. I ordered a ribeye, cooked medium rare, salad and baked potato. Mom had wings and a salad. We really enjoyed the salads. Fresh and just right. Mom loved the wings, but my steak was raw, so went uneaten, but I filled up on the salad and a baked potato and had no more energy to argue though when Eric asked I pointed out the steak and that it was raw.
The best part of the night was the fact that the manager actually stepped up where every other employee failed him. Even though the steak was not eatable, everything else was okay. How sad to see a restaurant filled with employees and it’s manager the only one waiting tables. No one else appeared to be interested in getting anything done. I truly appreciated Eric’s getting us fed, but as a small business owner what this restaurant is clearly missing is good management. Quality service and customer patronage trickles down from good owners, district and general managers. I can confidently say that’s a fact, and as I see one Ruby Tuesday after another close, this is a prime example of why.
These folks do not appear to be interested in working for a check, impressing a consumer, providing even mediocre service and were nothing short of pitiful. I would absolutely not return and would steer my friends and business associates in another direction.
Ruby Tuesday used to be a favorite of ours. What a shame the franchises have failed to maintain...
Read moreWe haven't been in a Ruby Tuesday in years...and it will be that long ...or never...until we are back in again. It took several minutes to be greeted at the door although there were only a handful of patrons at the bar area and two other tables in the restaurant. The hostess' attitude should have told us everything we needed to know. She had no enthusiasm and barely even acknowledged us. Our server was friendly but seemed, although she did say she'd waitressed for 30 years, scattered. We ordered potato skins as an appetizer and a burger and fries for my husband and a plate of three sides for me. All the food came out at the same time. The server set the tray of food on a nearby table and seemed confused as to where the food should go. She gave the burger to the table beside us and then the skins and side order plate to us. She left to check on the rest of the food for both tables and came back realizing that she'd dropped the burger at the wrong table. She picked it up and brought it to our table. Wow, had we been with the health department that would have been a big infraction. You never remove food from one table and give it to another. When we were both surprised, she DID, in fairness, offer to have it made over. None of the food was hot, the corn was so chewy it was actually comical(I didn't eat it, DID mention to both the server and manager that it was odd, cool and very chewy) but the rice and burger were decent. We were never offered refills on our drinks. We talked with the general manager about the issues and he did say, "sorry" but pretty much blew us off. One last insult to Injury, like fools after being very disappointed with the food, we did order a piece of carrot cake to go. No flavor, extremely dry and tasteless. Wow...whatever happened to Ruby Tuesday? What a sad state it's in now. No wonder, at prime dinner time, it was...
Read moreMy server was great. She was very friendly and attentive. I believe her name was Frida, if I am wrong I apologize ma'am.
I had a question regarding the specials and the app as soon as we arrived. So my server went to get the manager because she was unsure of the answer.
I was told that I could order a special with my buy one get one free, on the app. Turns out this was not true. If the answer had been "no" to begin with, I would have ordered something different. I thought I was getting the special. I did not get the special. I wish they would have been upfront, as this miscommunication will absolutely prevent me from returning anytime soon. I mean come on, if the answer is "no" just say no.
I got my check I realized that chocolate milk cost $1.99 for 6 oz. Won't make that mistake again.
I saw that they did not give me the special price listed on my app, they added on a salad bar to my appetizer which was an extra $6, and they upped my beverage to a large without asking. I don't even think I got the large sized beverage I just got the large price. Bummer.
The appetizer was totally gross. Part of that was my own fault for not realizing it was pork, but you really couldn't taste anything but barbecue sauce because it was drowning in the bbq sauce.
I went in for a salad. I got my salad and I'm happy with my salad. The salad bar needed items the whole time (cucumbers, tomatoes, cheese, etc). The restaurant was not busy so I'm not sure why they were not replenishing the salad bar, maybe they were waiting on the next rush? I mean it was dinner time so why wouldn't you have the items that folks want for dinner on the bar? Who knows. All in all everything tasted okay, but now that I see how they like to upcharge and overcharge I will not return anytime soon. I really used to enjoy...
